Jillian Docherty is the only witch in a town of humans, who regularly take advantage of her magic services. Overworked and underappreciated, she escapes her town for a much-needed holiday in her childhood home: a lovely cottage situated deep into the woods.
When she comes across a very unexpected and interesting book promising her company and pleasure, Jillian realizes she may have finally found the relaxation she desperately craved. But she never expected to make friends with a sex demon…
In the Care of Magic is a short cozy story about a plus size bisexual witch finding comfort and companionship with an aromantic agender sex demon. Their relationship is platonic, not romantic!
My Review:
This was a really nice and fun story, a slice of life cosy romance and I really enjoyed watching two at this time each other. She definitely needed that time off because that town was really working her with no breaks and that's no way to live.
Jillian is a witch and the town has been making full use of her abilities. The fact that they don't really seem to see her as a person, just as a vehicle to service their needs, it was pretty disheartening. Glad that she made the right choice for herself to get away because it wasn't like they were gonna let her do that of their own volition.
The fact that she doesn't know how to relax to just not do anything yeah, she still needs to replenish her energy and I really enjoyed how the story went with that, with Lyle and how xe challenged her to relax and take a break. Plus all their time in the bedroom.
This really is a slice of life, there's not really a plot or conflict, it's just them having time with each other. Given that it is a novella, that works out, it really wouldn't for a full length book. But it was good to spend some time with just smut, basically.
I had a great time reading this story and I can't wait to read more from this author!
