It was just another ordinary day at McKinley High—until a massive explosion devastated the school. When loner David Thorpe tried to help his English teacher to safety, the teacher convulsed and died right in front of him. And that was just the beginning.
A year later, McKinley has descended into chaos. All the students are infected with a virus that makes them deadly to adults. The school is under military quarantine. The teachers are gone. Violent gangs have formed based on high school social cliques. Without a gang, you're as good as dead. And David has no gang. It's just him and his little brother, Will, against the whole school.
In this frighteningly dark and captivating novel, Lex Thomas locks readers inside a school where kids don't fight to be popular, they fight to stay alive.
My first review of The Loners
My Review:I had a pretty good time reading this book again. More then I did the first time, because I blasted through it this time, so I didn't spend as much time thinking about what I didn't like about it. It is a pretty good story, and I can't wait to finally continue on with this sereis!
This world where teenagers are infected with a virus that kills adults, yeah, that's a pretty awful situation to be in. That this high school has created an ecosystem of various cliques, yeah, it's such an interesting concept to read about!
David and his brother are alone in this school, they're not part of a group which makes it harder to survive, to get supplies, to have a safe space to sleep. And then the whole situation with Lucy happens, and that sparks off events.
This book set up what this world is like, and it started to break it down, with all these infected teens getting out on the loose. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next! To see how the adults are going to react, as well as the teens to their freedom, I can't wait to find out!
This was a pretty good book and I need to read more of this series now!
