Week 11 Review: Wolf Rain
New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh takes us on a new adventure in this next novel of the Psy-Changeling Trinity series…

My first review of Wolf Rain
My Review:
I enjoyed reading this book again! I got a copy of Alpha Night, so I had to reread this book because I hardly remembered it. And I'm glad that I did, because this book was so good, and from what I've read of Alpha Night since finishing this book and writing this review, these books are pretty tied together!
Someone commented in their review of Alpha Night, that besides this book, all of the Trinity books have been set in different places, new places, with a ton of new characters to learn each time, and that this one was the only exception, since we've known SnowDance basically since the beginning. And yeah, it's great to be with old friends, especially since the stragglers are getting their happy relationships!
We learned about the designation E-sigma, and that's pretty important, given what that talent means, especially given the state of the world right now. We also learn about the Scarab initiative, and how that's now coming into play now. Oh, and the science behind Rogues. There haven't been many mentioned, maybe one or two, but for Alexei, it's personal, given that it's his paternal line, and cost him all of his relatives.
Memory is such an amazing character! She went through hell, and as she said, she used spite as a weapon, to build a better life, to spite her kidnapper. She's so strong and wonderful to read about! I loved reading her journey!
Loved reading this book, it was fantastic and now to read more!

Week 11 Review: Chain of Gold
Chain of Gold is the first novel in a new trilogy that stars the Shadowhunters of Edwardian London.

For years there has been peace in the Shadowhunter world. My Review:
Yeah, wow, I loved reading this book! I was planning on rereading the Infernal Devices series before reading this, but I ran out of time. Oh, well, it was sill so great to be in this world again, with the kids of the previous generation! It was so great!
We were in a few heads in this book. Cordelia and James, obviously, but also Lucy, and some of the gang. And there were several things going on at once, though some were different parts for the same quest. But it made for a lot of mini cliffhangers, jumping from perspective to perspective, right at the critical moment!
The main plot of this book is a unknown number of demons, who are poisoning Shadowhunters, and the efforts to defeat said demon(s). I loved how these characters took charge, just like their parents did before them, because Will comments, that he's now part of the Clave and still can't get it to do anything. And another person said that the young don't know to fear loss, and go straight in. And while I love spending time with TID cast, their kids deserve their time in the limelight!
On the family tree that came out with Clockwork Princess, and is on Cassandra Clare's website, has Cordelia and James together, Grace and Christopher, and Lucy and Jesse. While we know that parts of it were made up, I wonder how much of it's going to be true by the end of this series? Also, we don't have the Fairchild family tree, so I don't know if Matthew finds happiness, if he's Clary's direct ancestor, since there is Charles as well. But I don't want her descended from him, he's not kind in this book!
I can kinda see where this story is going. I know books have conflict to entertain, and this conflict that's coming, that we danced a little bit in this book, James' mask, that's going to hurt in the future. And hopefully it'll be more of a lancing a boil, letting out the bad, kind of pain, not one that kills!
Loved this book so much, it was fantastic, and the wait for the sequels is going to be evil!

Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder: Review
A midnight food run nearly gets 28-year-old Katherine O'Brian killed. She's the only person to see the man who brutally murdered a local woman and the killer is hell-bent on making sure she doesn't talk.
Enrolled at the local community college, she meets Scott Mitchell; literally, tall, dark, and handsome. Scott left a broken engagement behind when he moved to Reno and the last thing he needs is more drama. But when he and Katherine are paired for a project, that's what he gets. It can be very distracting when someone is out to kill your lab partner. There's definite chemistry, but with a growing friendship and Katherine's life in danger, romance will have to wait. Together, they'll try to figure out what the police haven't been able to—the identity of the killer, before Katherine is his next victim.
Scott and Katherine will face jealousy, misunderstandings, lust, and rivals, not to mention attempted murder—and all before their first real date.
I enjoyed this book! It kinda reminded me of Lynsay Sands books, both her vampire series and her highlander one, where it's a romance, and there's a mystery of someone trying to kill one of the leads. Just a lot of fun to read!
I will say, that there was something about either the narration, writing or some combination of both that wasn't quite my style. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't totally my cup of hot chocolate. I can't pinpoint it, but it was like a splinter, and I just wanted to figure out why.
Katherine and Scott were really cute together. They both had reasons why they didn't want to get into a relationship, and still their chemistry and how well they got along with each other, kept tugging them together. It was so enjoyable to read!
I enjoyed how things all came together, it could've very easily gone in a more negative direction, if one or two things had been changed. So glad that it all worked out and we got a happy ending! And I'm wondering where the series will go with Jack and Amy mentioned in the synopsis of the next book...
This was a sweet, cute read, and I enjoyed it a lot!

Week 10 Reviews: The Unkindest Tide, Hope is Swift
Hundreds of years ago, the Selkies made a deal with the sea witch: they would have the sea for as long as she allowed it, and when the time came, she would call in all their debts at once. Many people assumed that day would never come. Those people were wrong.
When the Luidaeg—October "Toby" Daye's oldest and most dangerous ally—tells her the time has come for the Selkies to fulfill their side of the bargain, and that Toby must be a part of the process, Toby can't refuse. Literally. The Selkies aren't the only ones in debt to the Luidaeg, and Toby has to pay what she owes like anyone else. They will travel to the fabled Duchy of Ships and call a convocation of the Selkies, telling them to come and meet the Luidaeg's price...or face the consequences.
Of course, nothing is that simple. When Dianda Lorden's brother appears to arrest Dianda for treason against the Undersea, when a Selkie woman is stripped of her skin and then murdered, when everything is falling apart, that's when Toby will have to answer the real question of the hour.
Is she going to sink? Or is she going to swim?
My first review of The Unkindest Tide, Hope is Swift
My Review:
Oh, yeah, I had to read these stories again! I just love Seanan McGuire's writing, and reading about Toby's adventures! And the short stories are always great to read, seeing from side characters who don't see a lot of screen time, it just adds to the world!
The Unkindest Tide rights a wrong that has been a background issue the whole series, we just didn't know until more recently. And having the Roane back now, well, they can see the future. While we aren't quite near the end of this series, well, we're gearing up for it. And having some knowledge to face it is hopefully a good thing!
Between making the Selkies into Roane, and all the politics there, as well as Dianda's brother coming in and causing problems, there's a lot going on in this book. Plus the fact that Gillian is going to be permanently added to the the world of fae. Toby has so much on her plate, and that's not adding the stress of being out surrounded by the ocean, after being turned into a fish and losing her previous life. Yeah.
I feel bad for Raj, as a Prince, he has duties and responsibilities. Ones that he's going to have to take up sooner than he would like. Then there's the whole thing were he can't really be friends with his future subjects, only with people outside that power structure. So that leaves him a bit isolated. I really enjoyed reading this story!
Loved reading these, and I can't wait for The Killing Frost!

My Review:
I really enjoyed this book! William has been around since book 2, and while Sunny was only introduced in this book, or really, The Darkest Assassin, she really hit the ground running! I enjoyed them together so much, she really pricked his ego, which he needed.
I really enjoyed the fact that we got to see William's background, his origin story, how he got cursed, and how he's connected to Axel. His relationship with this family-Axel and Hades, was pretty great side plot to read!
The main two thrusts of this story were solving his book with the code, and battling Lucifer. Part of the code breaking is the fact that he's cursed that if he falls in love, well, she'll try to kill him. So there's that going on as well. It was so much fun to read!
I'm wondering if we're going to see Axel and Evelina have a book. Maybe not in this series because Gena Showalter mentioned that while this series is pretty much over since all of the original Lords have had books, well, we're going to be getting more books in this world. This is the first book that didn't have a demon-possessed character as a lead, so that would be a good end spot for this series. And these two would be a great couple! Though there are a few demon possessed individuals who haven't gotten their stories yet...And the story arc of this series with the artifacts hasn't finished yet, either...
Loved this book, it was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to see what we'll get next!
