Week 42 Review: First Lie Wins

From Goodreads:
Evie Porter has everything a nice, Southern girl could want: a perfect, doting boyfriend, a house with a white picket fence and a garden, a fancy group of friends. The only catch: Evie Porter doesn't exist.

The identity comes first: Evie Porter. Once she's given a name and location by her mysterious boss Mr. Smith, she learns everything there is to know about the town and the people in it. Then the mark: Ryan Sumner. The last piece of the puzzle is the job.

Evie isn't privy to Mr. Smith's real identity, but she knows this job will be different. Ryan has gotten under her skin, and she's starting to envision a different sort of life for herself. But Evie can't make any mistakes—especially after what happened last time.

Because the one thing she's worked her entire life to keep clean, the one identity she could always go back to—her real identity—just walked right into this town. Evie Porter must stay one step ahead of her past while making sure there's still a future in front of her. The stakes couldn't be higher—but then, Evie has always liked a challenge...

My Review:
I had such a fantastic time reading this book! I really enjoyed her YA books, and I think this is her first adult book, and I was excited to see what the story would be. I had such a great time, the synopsis had me intrigued, and the book kept me hooked!

If you didn't read this synopsis, you know pretty quickly that something is off with this couple. I want to know what secrets they were keeping and just what the heck was going on and I loved learning more about them and their situation.

I really enjoyed the timeline of the story that it went back-and-forth between the present and the past with her various different cases and how she's come to the point where she is now. There were a lot of moving pieces and I really enjoyed how intricate the plot was, both the story itself and what was in the story.

That ending was so satisfying! To see how it all came together for their plan, all the little things that built into that conclusion was just so good! Who it turned out to be was pretty interesting and that was such an interesting reveal! I really enjoyed where we left these characters and what their futures might hold.

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Ashley Elston!
