Week 43 Reviews: King of Shadows, Queen of Dreams

From Goodreads:
He saved my life. Now I belong to him…

I was seconds from death when Aon returned to Under, and carried me away to his palace. Now I wander through its ballrooms and libraries, surrounded by dark luxury, searching for my place in this deadly world.

The King of Shadows is everything that people say—ruthless, savage, master of the darkest magic, and a prince of pain.

And yet I still crave his touch.

Trapped together, our temptation turns to passion. Am I his lover, his guest, or his prisoner? Is it really possible that I'm falling for him?

One thing is certain. If I leave Aon's protection, his rivals will hunt me down. As they close in around us, I must uncover the magic that binds me to him, before an ancient war returns to Under and tears us both apart…

King of Shadows is the second volume in a steamy and addictive six-book series of villainous kings and dark romance that's perfect for fans of Raven Kennedy, Nikki St. Crowe and Penelope Barsetti.

This fully revised new edition is darker and spicier than ever.

From Goodreads:
I died. But that was only the beginning…

I wake in a vast, abandoned palace, ruined and overgrown with vines. Something is stirring inside me, and strange magic sparks to life at my touch.

How did I get here? And what have I become?

My passion for Aon was dangerous from the start. When his rivals united against me, I died to save Under from another devastating war.

But the dark powers that shape this realm are not finished with me yet… I return to life with magic that I cannot control—the lost magic of the House of Dreams.

Aon finds me among the ruins. He can sense the untamed power inside me, and it draws us closer than ever. We enter a dance of pain and desire, as he tries to provoke my hidden abilities.

Aon is a monster, and I must never forget what he is capable of. But something even more terrifying is coming to Under. To have any hope of survival, I must unleash my magic, and become the Queen of Dreams…

Queen of Dreams is the third volume in a steamy and addictive six-book series of villainous kings and dark romance that's perfect for fans of Raven Kennedy, Nikki St. Crowe and Penelope Barsetti.

My Review:
I loved reading these books! I really enjoyed the first one, and I was excited to see where the series was going to go. And oh, the places it went! This is only half of the series, there's still another 3 books to come, and I can't wait to read them!

Each of these books is pretty distinct, Shadows was Lydia and Aon getting to know each other in person, and Dreams was dealing with the consequences of her being killed, and then being brought back as the Queen of Dreams. So that was a lot.

Aon is crazy, and sadistic, and not a good person. But oh, I adored him and Lydia, he was softer for her, and while that didn't always come across in the best way, because some of his actions were horrific, well, this is a series about monsters, so that makes sense!

I felt so badly for Lydia, this world has basically taken turns at whacking her like a piñata, one blow after another. That she was killed, that's one of the biggest hits, and one that required a lot of recalibrating, of what her future could be in Under. I was just along for the ride, and I had to keep going!

These were both so great to read, and I need to read the rest of this series now!
