Week 42 Review: When the Moon Hatched

From Goodreads:
THE OVERNIGHT VIRAL SENSATION AND NATIONAL BESTSELLER

"A wild ride that thrills as much as it enchants . . . This remarkable book is an instant classic." — Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars

The bestselling phenomenon, When the Moon Hatched, is a fast-paced fantasy romance featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity's grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to FALL.

As an assassin for the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve's job is to complete orders and never get caught. When a rival bounty hunter turns her world upside down, blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself imprisoned by the Guild of Nobles—a group of powerful fae who turn her into a political statement.

Crushed by the loss of his great love, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to quell the never-ebbing ache in his chest, a clue lures him into the capitol's high-security prison where he stumbles upon the imprisoned Raeve …

Echoes of the past race between them.

There's more to their story than meets the eye, but some truths are too poisonous to swallow.

"When The Moon Hatched breathes new, beautiful life into the genre, as Sarah A. Parker weaves lyrical prose with undeniable chemistry. I laughed, I cried, I got everything out of this. It's an absolutely stunning fantasy world that everyone should sink their teeth into." — Raven Kennedy, internationally bestselling author of The Plated Prisoner series

My Review:
Oh man, this book! I heard the hype, but I didn't know much about it going in. And I just devoured this book, the story was so compelling, and I had to know more about this world, and meet these characters, it was all so good!

I'm glad that there was a list of characters and terms in this book, because between that and the map, I was going back and forth to find my footing in this world, because we're thrown into this world with no explanation, so that information helped me.

Raeve was such an interesting character to read about because she had her secrets and power that she doesn't fully understand herself. I just wanted to know what was going on with her, especially with that other personality that seemed to be collecting power words and as the story went on, things became more and more clear, though Raeve doesn't acknowledge the full picture, so I don't know what she thinks of it all, because it was a pretty epic, if heartbreaking, story.

This world with dragons that when they died became moon's was so interesting to read about. The history and the politics were really interesting, especially with this family who seemed to be ruling all three separate kingdoms. I wondered how we got there and I really enjoyed the perspective of the princess, to see what was going on and how that wove into the greater story and what had happened, and I'm so excited to see how, knowing that, how it's gonna play out in the future, and what's to come!

Loved reading this book and I'm eagerly anticipating the sequel, it's going to be a long wait, since it comes out in about a year!
