THE STORM IS COMING . . .
Get ready to fly or die in the breathtaking follow-up to Fourth Wing and Iron Flame from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there's no more time for lessons.
No more time for uncertainty.
Because the battle has truly begun; and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it's impossible to know who to trust.
Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre.
The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves - her dragons, her family, her home, and him.
Even if it means keeping a secret so big, it could destroy everything.
They need an army.
They need power.
They need magic.
And they need the one thing only Violet can find—the truth.
But a storm is coming... and not everyone can survive its wrath.
My Review:
I loved reading this book! I love this world and characters so much, and this was worth the wait! While I personally didn't have any problem with Iron Flame, I know some people didn't like it as much, and I think wanted more time, to edit it and such. But either way, this book was so fantastic, and I loved it so much!
What with Zaden starting the process to turn, yeah, that really complicates their relationship, because there's a chance that he could kill her, and he's well aware of the fact. So the banter, the rising tension, and the quest to try and reverse the process, my heart hurt for them, to have to go through that. Because if he hadn't, then they would've lost, they wouldn't have had the time to figure out how to get the circle going again.
This is the book were we learn more about the world. That the leave the continent, looking for answers, and looking for help, meant that we saw a lot of different little islands and customs, which was so interesting to read. We also learned more about dragons, and the gods, and some secret history also got revealed, which also raised new questions. Not the part where Violet's ex is another one of the princes, that makes sense, also why he's an ex, but it was pretty shocking! Not as much as what her dad kept hidden though.
That ending though! I mean, I'm glad that they fought off the bad guys, but at what cost? Zaden used more power, which wasn't good. And then that last chapter, where Violet showed up missing memories? I hope that's a good thing, but it could so easily be a bad thing, and we won't know which until the next book at the earliest. Though yeah, they're married!
Reading this book was so fantastic, and I can't wait for book 4, though I do hope that Rebecca Yarros gets the rest that she mentioned in one interview!
