My Review:
I just love this series so much! I'll never get tired of reading these books, they're so very near and dear to my heart, because they are what they are, and that'll never change! I love Yelena and Valek and their story, and this world and just everything about this series!

Of the full length books, I enjoy Poison Study and Magic Study more. Each book, we're exploring this world, and meeting these characters. Fire Study, everything just seems to be going wrong, and I felt so bad for them, and they kept acting in ways that hurt, and I love it, but it's just a bit of a harder book to read than the others. 

I just adore these characters so much! Who they are, their relationships with one another, the romance between Yelena and Valek, the friendship group that has grown into the herd with Janco and Ari! And the banter! What's not to love about this series! 

I know that Ice Study was expanded, I know that originally it ended when Valek told Yelena basically what happened to the Ice Moon, why it was no longer a threat. But with the Soulfinder series, it was expanded a little bit, because the Moon brothers just apparently can't stop causing problems! 

And I swear, I'm going to finish rereading this whole series, from the Glass series, and the Soulfinder series, I'm finally going to reread the Soulfinder series for the first time! I can't wait!

My Review:
This was a really great book! I loved this concept, of these two falling in love when it wasn't planned, and now he has to get her to fall in love with the guy she was supposed to end up with, but she doesn't remember him, but he does! 

The beginning of this book, we get Liam sent to modern day Cora. And then we get a chapter of when Liam and Cora first met. And I wanted more of that story, what was going to go wrong, because we know it did. And then it went to the present, and oh, I was just dying for more, this book definitely had me on the edge of my seat!

I loved watching them fall in love in the past, and at the same time, watch him try and steer her towards the guy she was supposed to marry. It was such a great juxtaposition, on top of the different settings. These characters were brought to life, and I loved their romance! 

I'm really excited to see where things go from here. I mean, he's kinda bending the rules to the point of them snapping, because he and Cora do have that love between them. So I'm really excited to see how it's all going to work out! 

This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to read the sequel!

Week 39 Review: The God of Lost Words

My Review:
Oh, man, this book! Things have been building for a while, and now the threat that the Library is facing is coming straight on, and it is not a good time for them! I've loved this concept from the beginning, and it came to a very fitting, if devastating, end! 

If I wanted one thing from this book that I didn't quite get, would be of Claire, Hero, and Rami. They have their thing, but it's never fully explored with all of them, and I would've loved that. And it's the end, and now we have a 95% chance of never getting it, the 5% being a short story or something which I would absolutely love! 

I've been wondering about the epigraphs from the beginning. Of what the one librarian did that left the library without anyone for a century. Well, that's a big part of this book, because what happened then is helping them with what's happening now, because it's happening again! 

But that ending? It must've been the week for reading that kind of ending, one that's perfect for the world and what's happened previously in the series, but oh, does it hurt! I wish that it hadn't cost them that much, that they could find a similar solution that didn't do this to them. Bah! 

This was a wonderful book, and a really fantastic end to the series! And I can't wait to see what A.J. Hackwith writes next!

Week 39 Review: Cast in Firelight

My Review:
This book was such a great read! The idea of these two who were betrothed when they were children, didn't get off to good start, and have had such a antagonistic relationship, long distance, meeting again under different names, and actually liking one another, just sounded like such a great concept! I couldn't wait to see how it played out when they found out who the other was! Such a great read!

Through a series of miscommunications and assumptions, they end up meeting again after many years apart, thinking that the other was someone else, not their betrothed. Just goes to show that people can change, and what you didn't like about someone, might grow on you. I really enjoyed their relationship!

The investigation into what was going on with the thefts of Adraa's creations, into what's going on with the criminals reaching for power, I was intrigued to see what was going to happen next. And oh, the way things wrapped up have me so excited to see where things go in book 2! 

I'm really glad that I read this when I did, because book 2 is coming out in a few months. For some reason, I thought that it came out June 2020, which would've made my timing even better, but yeah, I can't wait to see where things go from here! I don't know if this is a duology or longer series, but I can't wait to find out!

This was an epic book, and I can't wait for the sequel!

Week 39 Review: The Last Graduate

My Review:
It was so great to be in this world again! I just might reread A Deadly Education next month, just because I need more of this world. I don't know, maybe I'll hold off until closer to the release of book 3, because I think this series is a trilogy. I could read it both times, because this series is just that good. Who knows! I just need more! 

This book was just incredible, and it does take place over the course of a year, which is much longer than the first book, which was like about a month. Loved watching a full school year-though it's a very unusual one, given everything that Orion has done the whole time he's been there, and what they did at the end of the last book!

One thing that I loved about this book was that it was a bit of a role reversal, of El saving Orion. It's kinda hilarious, and kind of a bit sad. But then there was also so much going on, things were building in the background, toward a destination that had been unknown but chosen, and getting ever closer to arriving to! 

Oh, but that ending! That was just absolutely fantastic but oh, did that hurt! And oh, did it hurt more than the ending of the first book, because the stakes are infinitely higher, there's an actual threat vs. the confusion of why her mom would send that note. And I need to know how they're going to fix things, because it can't end like that! And I really hope that book 3, like this book, picks off right after the ending of this book, because I want to see how El's going to react!

This was such an incredible read, and I just need book 3 so much!

My Review:
Yeah, this was such a great book! I was wondering if we were going to see the Brass Circle again, but with Quinn's story, that was an integral piece of what was going on! And oh, was that a rollercoaster of a ride, that part of the story!

I don't really remember Jet, because he was the friend of Abagail, the heroine of Immortal Nights. That was book 24, so it was almost 10 books ago. The Trouble With Vampire's which star's Quinn's twin Pet, was 4 books ago. So it was great to bring back these side characters and have their story!

This book is just about split in half, half of the crush and that huge adrenaline rush, and then the other half of this book was a bit slower, giving them time to explore the bond between them, though the threat that they face does cause some problems for them!

I loved how things turned out, regarding that threat! I mean, we had some pieces, but they were incomplete, leading us to believe one thing, but once we had the full picture, man, I wasn't expecting that, but it made perfect sense! Loved how it turned out! 

This was another fantastic book in this series, and it's still going strong!

Week 39 Review: Lirael

My Review:
Oh, it was so great to read this book, to be in this world again! It was a little weird to have Sabriel be a mom, to be this power figure, but it was a quick and easy adjustment to follow Lirael! And finding how she fit into this world was quite a great story to read!

Getting to know Lireal was so fantastic, she's a Daughter of the Clayr-but she's the oldest without the Sight, and that leaves her very isolated. I loved her story, with the Disreputable Dog, and being the library assistant of levels 3 and 2, and I loved all that we learned of this world! I'm so excited to read more! 

It was a bit jarring to then have Sam's perspective as well, but he is an important figure in this world, his dad is King Touchstone, and his mom is the Abhorsen Sabriel, and Sam is the Abhorsen in Waiting. But he doesn't want the position. But oh, the moment that Lireal and Sma's story's came together, that was such a great moment! 

I will say, that I found Lirael's parentage-and the scene that revealed it-to be a bit icky. I mean, they do talk about the fact that he's old enough to be her father, he has a kid that's not much younger than her, and they're doing this to conceive a child that she's seen the world needing. And Lireal sees this. So that was a bit awkward to read. 

In a way, this book very much has middle book syndrome-there's not a big action scene, the battle, while intense, was very quick. But the first book focused on the previous generation, and a different threat, and this book is setting things up to go down in book 3, and I'm so excited for Abhorsen! 

This was such a great book, and I need to read more of this series!

Week 39 Review: Dead Silence

My Review:
Oh, man, this book! A big part of this book is on the fact that we don't know if we can trust Claire, because she doesn't trust herself. Doesn't trust that what she's seeing is real. The mental  and psychological parts of this thriller was just so tense and atmospheric, and pushed the story along so frighteningly well! Not to say the physical part of the story weren't tense, but the other two were on point!

This concept reminded me of two books, one YA, the other adult. The YA book, Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda, and the adult book, Salvaged by Madeleine Roux. OK, maybe one other adult book, Salvation Day by Kali Wallace. They all have ships that were either missing or abandoned, where something went wrong. And Dead Silence is a great addition to the group! Lots of dark and creepy ship atmosphere books, these sci fi books really blend well with horror, and I love it!  

I really enjoyed the way that it was told. We had little snippets of the present, and then the bulk of the story when Claire and her team find the ship. And then we hit that point where things transition to the present, and oh, do things really take a turn there!

When we found out what was going on, that was very satisfying! Everything made sense, and it tied everything together in a really believable way! Well, almost everything. It doesn't explain what happened to her as a child, but the how and why of that aren't the focus of this book, only how that affects her mental state throughout this book. But yeah, that ending was excellent! 

This was such a fantastic read, and I can't wait from more books from the name S.A. Barnes!

Week 39 Review: A List of Cages

My Review:
Oh man, this book! I was apprehensive about reading it, because I started to read it, way back, either before it was published, or shortly thereafter, and honestly, I got scared about the subject matter. I knew that it had a boy being abused in his home, and I didn't want to read about him with that pain because I didn't want him to have it. But it deserved to be read, so I did. And it's a great book, but it is hard to read!

That this book is about a boy who is getting abused at home, that's an important topic that needs to be talked about. It unfortunately happens in real life, and having examples in fiction, of being seen, is a powerful thing.

We were in both Adam and Julian's perspective. So we see Julian, who doesn't really have a safe place, and believes he doesn't have anywhere to go. And we have Adam, who just wants to help. Seeing things from both their perspectives really rounded out the story.

If you're someone who gets emotional at books, this one will get you. I'm not one, but this got to me, just a little bit. The depression, the despair, the pain, these boys go through a lot, and this book really keeps close to what's going on. 

This book is a great one to exists, and I'm so glad that it does!

My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book! I had a great time with her first book, and with this one following 2 perspectives, Jamie and Siri, of sisters who really don't know each other. I've never seen the Parent Trap, but the magic to make them look like each other, I couldn't wait to see how the story unfolded from there!

I watch YouTube a lot. And Christine from polandbanaansBooks is someone whose channel I follow, and I have since just before Again But Better. So I was watching all the video's that she was releasing as she was writing this book, editing it, most if not all of the publicly shown process of publication. I didn't know the story yet, but I knew the story of the book, so that was just a great part of reading this book!

This is the story of two sisters, who are having quarter life crisis. Siri is a ballerina, but she got an injury that means that she won't be able to dance professionally. Jamie wants to be a stand up comedian, but she has stage fright. That they switch lives, get a chance to live in each other's shoes, maybe explore different things that they could want to do in the future, was such a great read!  

Watching the relationships develop for each sister, they were so cute, and I enjoyed them so much! And they added something really great to this coming of age story. Because this book was also about family, and about growing up, and I had a really great time reading it! 

I had a great time reading this book, and I can't wait for the next book from Christine Riccio!

So I read my next book for Magical Readathon: Orilium, and it was Fire Study which was for the prompt Character 7 Tower of Rumination, and I'll be reading An Ember in the Ashes next!
