Week 22 Review: Flash Flood

From Goodreads:
When a flash flood leaves Zack and his younger foster brother stranded at home, it's up to Zack to make sure they survive.

Seventeen-year-old Zack has been living with his foster parents, the Tates, for three years. He used to be an angry mess with a broken heart, but with their love and support he’s doing better now―and managing his ADHD. His foster brother, troubled fourteen-year-old Peter, arrived three months ago. Struggling with ADHD and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, Peter reminds Zach of himself before the Tates took him in.

During a massive rainstorm, Peter runs away. While the Tates are out searching for him, the town announces a mandatory emergency evacuation. The river is flooding! Peter finally shows up and Zack takes charge, gathering supplies and trying to make sure Peter is okay. As the water rises, Zack and Peter have to figure out whether to sit tight and wait or try to escape…before they get washed away.

My Review:
I had a really great time reading this book! The concept sounded really great, and I've enjoyed her other books, plus it was under 100 pages, so it was quick and easy to read! I really enjoyed watching these two try and survive this flash flood!

This is in part a character story, and part a survival story, they go hand in hand, because it's about these two foster brothers, trying to survive this flood. Watching Zach and Peter as they struggled to survive, overcoming the obstacles that were in their paths, yeah, loved it!

Watching them survive, we also saw them bond, because experiences shared are ways bonds are forged, and Peter has only moved in recently so they didn't have much of a connection before they all started, so that was a positive of the whole experience!

Both of them have faced challenges, both of them have ADHD, and have been through the foster care system. Zack has really bloomed while staying with the Tates, and it was so lovely to see, and that Peter has the same opportunity, the hope of that was just excellent!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Gabrielle Prendergast!
