Week 11 Review: Butcher & Blackbird

From Goodreads:
Every serial killer needs a friend.
Every game must have a winner.

When a chance encounter sparks an unlikely bond between rival murderers Sloane and Rowan, the two find something elusive—the friendship of a like-minded, pitch-black soul. From small town West Virginia to upscale California, from downtown Boston to rural Texas, the two hunters collide in an annual game of blood and suffering, one that pits them against the most dangerous monsters in the country. But as their friendship develops into something more, the restless ghosts left in their wake are only a few steps behind, ready to claim more than just their newfound love. Can Rowan and Sloane dig themselves out of a game of graves? Or have they finally met their match?

Butcher & Blackbird is the first book in the Ruinous Love Dark Romance trilogy of interconnected stand-alone dark romantic comedies. This dual POV novel ends on a HEA.

My Review:
I had a really great time reading this book! I hadn't really heard of it and then it exploded and I saw it everywhere. But this idea of two serial killers coming together, having a competition of who can kill the target first, falling in love? Sounded like a delightful read!

These two were just so great to read about! They both have their reasons for picking up killing as a hobby, and oh, did they have fantastic banter and chemistry that I loved to read. I had to keep reading about them competing and falling and being in love!

But that second round of the competition? Yeah, that was pretty nauseating! The first bit, I can kinda imagine. But the ice cream? Yeah, that was just so gross, and I can totally understand why the guy became one of their targets! That third round though, that was pretty hilarious.

I was worried for a moment, because the one victim of their target got away, having seen at least her and maybe him, and that she has Sloane's shirt, and since Sloane was injured, it might have Sloane's blood on it, which would be bad, since the cops could get ahold of it. But the drama of the climax went in a different direction that I really enjoyed!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue on!
