A prequel to the Lunar Chronicles, showing a young Scarlet and how Princess Selene came into the care of Michelle Benoit.
In this prequel to Cinder, we see Kai and Cinder's first meeting from Kai's perspective.
It is time. The boy must leave his family to serve in the Queen's army. To be chosen is an honor. To decline is impossible. The boy is modified. He is trained for several years, and learns to fight to the death. He proves to the Queen—and to himself—that he is capable of evil. He is just the kind of soldier the Queen wants: the alpha of his pack.
The fates of Cinder and Scarlet collide as a Lunar threat spreads across the Earth...
Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.
My first review of Scarlet
My Review:
Well yeah, of course I really enjoyed rereading this series! With each book, we get another set of main characters, as well as following the main characters. It was really great to see the start of Scarlet and Wolf's story, and twining with Cinder and Kai's story!

The short stories were really great, I loved seeing these points in time, learning what it was like for the, and how things ended up the way they did in the main series. I mean, we don't get a lot of screen time with Scarlet's grandmother, and seeing her part in Cinder being on Earth was a really great story!
These guys have a lot of weight on their shoulders, they're teens, and they're trying to prevent the Lunar Queen from making things bad for everyone. She has a lot of resources, and they basically only have each other, though they do gather allies. So the stakes are high!
Scarlet and Wolf are really fantastic to read about, they both have secrets, and they both are connected to what's going on, though in different ways. I loved watching things go up and go down, and oh, that ending was intense! So excited to reread more!
These were all so great to read, and I can't wait to continue!
