Week 21 Reviews: The Clouded Sky, A Sky Unbroken

From Goodreads:
Skylar never imagined that she'd end up helping a boy from another planet search through Earth's history for a way to end his people's secret control over her world. But now that she's been drawn into Win's group of rebels, she can't walk away until their mission is completed.

Whisked to the immense space station that Win and the rest of the Kemyates call home, Skylar discovers that even the rebels don't see her as an equal. Determined to prove herself amid her homesickness in the alien environment, she throws herself into the work to free Earth. Her keen attention to detail and skill with numbers start to earn her colleagues' respect, but that doesn't make her position any less precarious. As the Enforcers escalate their attempts to capture the rebels, it becomes clear that someone within the resistance is leaking information to the enemy. And Skylar may be in the best position to uncover the traitor.

With each step toward the truth, Skylar is pulled deeper into the lives around her and the full horrors of her planet's imprisonment. To see her mission through, she must risk her life, her heart, and the future she's worked so hard to preserve.

From Goodreads:
The rebels have been disbanded, their plans ruined. Betrayed by those she trusted most, Skylar finds herself herded, along with a small group of Earthlings, into a living museum—a human zoo—on the Kemyates' space station, subject to her captors' every whim. Any move Skylar makes could result in the extinction of her people—but giving in means losing any hope of freedom.

Meanwhile, Win returns home and evades punishment by pretending to be loyal to Kemya. But he can't bear knowing that Skylar is imprisoned or watch his fellow Kemyates swallow the Council's lies about Earth. He must bring the truth to the Kemyate public and see the Earthlings freed—even if it means openly challenging his world's rulers.

In this final book of the action-packed Earth & Sky trilogy, neither Skylar nor Win knows they are about to uncover an even deeper conspiracy—one that could push the future they're fighting for completely out of reach.

My Review:
These were such great reads! I loved the first book, but never managed to continue on, so I made it a priority in May, and I've read them, and I loved them! I just love the worlds that Megan Crewe creates, and these were such great stories!

The first book really set up this world, and these characters and the stakes, pretty well, so we pretty much able to jump right into things with these books. Of course there were new environments to explore, new characters to meet, but the stage had been set to lay more details onto it.

The Clouded Sky took place on Kemya, which was really interesting, given all that happened in the first book. That she's dealing with the rebels but there's very much a trust disconnect as well as a general ill feeling towards Earthlings, yeah, I was rooting for them! But oh, how things ended, well, that was pretty explosive!

Well, it was good that I was able to just go straight into A Sky Unbroken! Which was so fantastic, that we got both Skylar and Win's perspective in this book, which I really enjoyed and was really well done, and we got to see a wider view of what was going on. I raged on behalf of these characters at the unfairness, and I really enjoyed how it all resolved!

Loved reading these books and I can't wait to read more by Megan Crewe!
