All Abigail wants is to hold them together, to get them back to the place where things were right. But maybe it's too big a task for one teenage girl. Bryan Bliss's thoughtful, literary debut novel is about losing everything—and about what you will do for the people you love.
My Review:
This book was a really enjoyable read, about family, faith, and homelessness, and I really enjoyed this combo, because it's not something that I've read before. It is a very short read, and it packs a few punches in not a lot of pages.
I felt bad for Abigail, because she went with her parents after they sold their home, went cross country, believing that the end was going to end shortly. And then it didn't, and they're stuck in this horrible situation-but they're told to have faith. Which her brother doesn't have, he wants to go home. And as the situation deteriorates, so does Abigail's faith. Which leaves her a difficult decision.
We went back and forth between the present, and moments in the past that lead up to this present, and seeing the different stages of her family's situation, of their relationships, and watching Abigail grow and learn what's most important to her, that was really great to read!
The ending was pretty satisfying, they're all back together, they're going to go home. There were a few question marks and things I wish could've happened, like getting the money back, and if they were going to get their van back or not. But all in all, the ending was satisfying!
This book was a really great read, I enjoyed it a lot!
