The ninth book of this dark urban fantasy series follows necromancer Eric Carter through a world of vengeful gods and goddesses, mysterious murders, and restless ghosts.
Eric Carter has a lot on his plate.
He's hunting the Oracle of Las Vegas, a literal talking head that manipulates the future to make its prophecies come true. But it has a new trick. It can change the past, too.
Now Jazz Age Los Angeles is invading the present. Long gone buildings suddenly restored, decommissioned Red Car trains appearing on paved over tracks, miles of the city changing back to orange groves.
Throw in a hundred-year-old doomsday cult, time magic, and a terrifyingly powerful spell to raise the dead and it makes for a busy week. Carter knows the Oracle is behind it all but he can't figure out how. Or why.
But he better figure it out soon or he, the city, and everyone he knows might be wiped from existence.
My Review:
Oh, wow, I loved reading this book! I've loved this series from the beginning, and the events of these last 2 books they've been so great, and events have really been building up and I just loved seeing how the continued in this book!
Jimmy, the Oracle, has a lot of power, and is fixing to get more, and there's a good chance that he'll get it, what with the time traveling shenanigans, which I really enjoyed reading! I really enjoyed seeing Eric and the gang face off against the oracle!
The way that Eric thinks, both the creative solutions to problems, and also his self-view, in perspective of all the lives he's taken, yeah, I really enjoyed watching him think about and develop. He really has come a long way since the first book!
I don't know if this is the end of the series or not. It basically wraps up the whole plot with the oracle. The question is, will the story be left here, or will we get to see some of the aftermath what happened here? I want to read more, but I don't know if we will.
Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Stephen Blackmoore!
