A more personal shock arrives in the form of Rule's son's mother. Why would she now challenge Rule's plan to bring his son to live among the Nokolai? Week 48 Review: Wild Cat

From Goodreads:
In the new Leopard novel by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Cat's Lair and Leopard's Prey, passions explode like wildfire when a young woman's feral instincts are ignited by a man who's too dangerous not to desire…

A simple request for Siena Arnotto: deliver a gift to her grandfather's friend. One look at Elijah Lospostos, hard-bodied and stripped to the waist, and Siena succumbs to a feline stirring she never felt before, and to Elijah's reckless and pleasurable demands. But when that pulse-throbbing moment ends in the murder of an unexpected intruder, Elijah accuses the shaken and confused Siena of setting him up.

Then Siena discovers the truth of her Leopard heritage, of the secrets in her grandfather's inner circle, and the sinister plot of revenge that has put her in jeopardy. When Siena's grandfather is assassinated, she realizes the only man she can trust is Elijah. Now as her Leopard rises from within, Siena and Elijah share not only an animal instinct for survival—but a desire so raw and wild it may be the only thing that can save them.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading this a whole bunch! We'd already gotten a Leopard book this year (Cat's Lair) and this book just kinda popped up, which says something about it that it came out when it did about it! Just so great!

So Elijah's been a part of the series since the beginning-he's Rachel's brother. Speaking of, I wish that she could've been in this book, because that would've been awesome, but oh well. Maybe in the future, because I love to see her and Siena together!

I really liked Siena. She was an innocent that got pulled into a pretty ugly world in an ugly way by both her grandfather-but also Elijah, and his further interactions with her weren't the best, so I wasn't too happy with him! But Siena, I liked, she was so great!

This book had a bit more of the world, of the crime families, and how the leopards are doing their best to keep innocents away from harm. It's not pretty, but it's pretty necessary, because there could be worse guys taking charge. But the good guys won, and that was really great!

Really fantastic book, and yeah, I just really enjoyed it so much, and I can't wait to read more!

Week 48 Review: The Jock and the Fat Chick

From Goodreads:
No one ever said high school was easy. In this hilarious and heartwarming debut, one high school senior has to ask himself how much he's willing to give up in order to fit in.

Kevin seems to have it all: he's popular, good looking, and on his way to scoring a college hockey scholarship. However, he's keeping two big secrets. The first is that he failed an assignment and is now forced to take the most embarrassing course ever--domestic tech. The second is that he is falling for his domestic tech classmate, Claire.

As far as Kevin is concerned, Claire does have it all: she's funny, smart, beautiful, and confident. But she's off-limits. Because Kevin knows what happens when someone in his group dares to date a girl who isn't a cheerleader, and there's no way he is going to put himself—or Claire—through that.

But steering clear of the girl of his dreams is a lot harder than Kevin thought…especially when a cooking project they are paired together for provides the perfect opportunity for things to heat up between them outside the classroom….

My Review:
This book was really fantastic! It was very quick, but had a great story in those pages! I enjoyed reading about Kevin the jock who doesn't like the typical beauty, and Claire, the fat chick who loved food preparation!

This book was solely from Kevin's POV, which isn't something that happens all that often, so that was a bonus! And Kevin wasn't a typical jock, he didn't like the cheerleader type, he liked curvy ladies, ladies that his team mates would call "fat."

I really enjoyed him and Claire together, thrown together because of his attitude towards food, and what he as an athlete should be eating. They worked really well together, his lack of knowledge in cooking, and her with both parents in some aspect, her dad a chef and her mom a baker! Just great!

Well it did suck all with all the expectations of their relationship and each other, as well as bad timing, they did work things out rather well, and they have a future, which is really great! Totally enjoyable and great!

This was a really awesome story about people in love, people who might not be society's standard, but are happy together, and that was just awesome! I wish more guys felt like Kevin!

Week 48 Review: The Harder You Fall

From Goodreads:
From New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter comes another scorching Original Heartbreakers tale featuring an aloof bad boy and the rowdy Southern belle who rocks his world…

Millionaire video-game creator Lincoln West has a dark and tragic past. The sought-after bachelor lives by a rigid schedule and a single rule—one relationship per year, lasting no more than two months. No exceptions. He moved to small town Strawberry Valley, Oklahoma, with his brothers-by-circumstance hoping to escape the worst of his memories—until a brash beauty dredges up long-buried emotions.

A reformed party girl, Jessie Kay Dillon is determined to walk the straight and narrow. But her love-hate sizzle with West is just too irresistible. They can't be near each other without tearing off their clothes, but the last thing she needs is to be his next two-month dump. Can she be the one exception? Because as any former girl-gone-wild knows: rules are made to be broken.

My Review:
This book! I loved reading it! So awesome to have West and Jessie Kay's story, even if it's the end of series series. Well, maybe. On Gena Showalter's site, for upcoming books, in 2017 it says 3 Original Heartbreakers novels. So I don't know what's going on there, but for now, this is the end of the series.

Both Jessie Kay and West have been a part of the series since the beginning-Jessie Kay's the sister of Brook Lynn, and West is one of the three guys that came to Strawberry Valley. And yeah, it was just a treat to have their story!

They both had their scars, West from being a foster child, and then his girlfriend, and the murder and the heroin, it's scared him, and he needed his time scheduled out, to have order. While Jessie Kay blames herself for her mom's death, and tried to find something that she couldn't name with countless guys which was the wrong way to go for her.

These two helped each other heal and grow stronger, and so it was just fantastic to read about them, as well as dealing with the crazy lady that had an obsession with West since he dated her college room mate. The good guys got their happy ending, and it was great!

Yeah, this was a really great, fantastic book, and I enjoyed it so, so, so much!

Week 48 Reviews: Heart of Evil, Sacred Evil

From Goodreads:
Emerging from the bayou like an apparition, Donegal Plantation is known for its unsurpassed dining, captivating atmosphere, haunting legends and now a corpse swinging from the marble angel that marks its cemetery's most majestic vault. A corpse discovered in nearly the same situation as that of Marshall Donegal, the patriarch killed in a skirmish just before the Civil War.

Desperate for help traditional criminologists could never provide, plantation heiress Ashley Donegal turns to an elite team of paranormal investigators who blend hard forensics with rare & often inexplicable intuition. Among the Krewe of Hunters is an old flame, Jake Mallory, a gifted musician with talent stretching far beyond the realm of the physical, and a few dark ghosts of his own.

The evil the team unveils has the power to shake the plantation to its very core. Jake and Ashley are forced to risk everything to unravel secrets that will not stay buried even in death.

From Goodreads:
A terror born of Jack the Ripper

The details of the crime scene are no coincidence. The body of a promising starlet has been battered, bloodied and then discarded between two of Manhattan's oldest graveyards.

One look and Detective Jude Crosby recognizes the tableau:

A recreation of Jack the Ripper's gruesome work. But he also sees something beyond the actions of a mere copycat. Something more dangerous and unexplainable.

As the city seethes with suspicion, Jude calls on Whitney Tremont, a member of the country's preeminent paranormal investigating team, to put the speculation to rest. Yet when Whitney and Jude delve deeper, what they discover is more shocking than either could have predicted, and twice as sinister.

My Review:
Yes, these books were so fantastic! I'm really enjoying reading this spin off series (at least the ones that I had read previously) with these characters and story lines! Really fantastic and enjoyable, and still fresh, even when there's over 10 books in the combined series!

These characters are really awesome, from Ashley, the heir of the Donegal Plantation, Jake, member of the pretty newly formed Krewe of Hunters, and Whitney, and Jude, a New York detective! They're different people, and I loved watching them interact!

The mysteries! Awesome and diverse, though there are some cliches, well, they're cliches for a reason. And the various locations help make things all the more vivid, with all the cities and landmarks and off the beaten track places! Awesome!

I enjoyed how things concluded, the bad guy in Heart of Evil, it was hard to suspect him from what he presented, but the good guys caught him, so that was great! And loved the ending for Sacred Evil, that was so great!

I enjoyed reading these books so much, and I can't wait to read more of this series!

Week 48 Review: Night Study

From Goodreads:
New York Times bestselling author Maria V. Snyder transports readers back to the realms of Sitia and Ixia in an exciting new Study novel full of magic, danger and intrigue.

Ever since being kidnapped from the Illiais Jungle as a child, Yelena Zaltana's life has been fraught with peril. But the recent loss of her Soulfinding abilities has endangered her more than ever before. As she desperately searches for a way to reclaim her magic, her enemies are closing in, and neither Ixia nor Sitia is safe for her anymore. Especially since the growing discord between the two countries and the possibility of a war threatens everything Yelena holds dear.

Valek is determined to protect Yelena, but he's quickly running out of options. The Commander suspects that his loyalties are divided, and he's been keeping secrets from Valek…secrets that put him, Yelena and all their friends in terrible danger. As they uncover the various layers of the Commander's mysterious plans, they realize it's far more sinister than they could have ever imagined.

My Review:
Oh, this book was so fantastic! I love reading Maria V. Snyder books, they're just so awesome, and this was more Yelena and Valek, which is even more so! I just loved reading this book so much, and I'm so glad that it exists!

This book picks up immediately after Shadow Study, with the suspicion that she's pregnant, and the hits and the action keep coming! Like the Commander acting in a way that hurt a lot, because we want him to be a good guy, but he wasn't acting like it!

Lots of great things happen in this book, like the relationship between Yelena and Valek deepens. Then some not so good stuff, like finding out more about what the bad guys are planning, because it's not good for the good guys!

How things wrap up, well, yeah. Valek changes a lot, because the last book was his past, and this one was his present and future, and he discovers some things about himself, and it changes him. But then there was the set up for what's going to be the main plot of Dawn Study, which I can't wait for!

Such a fantastic book, lots of discoveries, and yeah, I just can't wait to read more of this series!

Week 48 Review: Night Broken

From Goodreads:
An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam's ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn't the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam's house, Mercy can't shake the feeling that something about the situation isn't right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she's willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam's pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn't about to step down without a fight, but there's a more dangerous threat circling. Christy's ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

My Review:
Oh, this book! Mercy has to deal with Christy and her manipulations, as well as the kind of thing that comes of being a coyote shifter, and mate of the local alpha. Life and death fights, strange going ons, and investigations to find the bad guys!

Christy hasn't really been in this series until now, mostly being a slight pest in a book or two. This is where she goes full force to be a problem for Mercy, trying to get back Adam as well as make Mercy bad with the pack. Not fun!

One big thing that happened in this book was that she got to meet her brother, only the second family member on her dad's side, and that's counting Coyote as "dad" lightly. But ah, the strange craziness of Coyote! But a bit helpful fighting a creature that's similar to Coyote, but not. Because of course Christy would have to find a supernatural creature after being afraid of Adam, one that's scarier than Adam!

Another thing, that's pretty darned big, is the fact that because of the damage that was incurred in this book, that Mercy is closing her shop! And that kinda sucks, since it's been a part of the series from the beginning! So I can't wait to see what's going to happen as a result in Fire Touched!

Really, really great book, and now I just want more!

Week 48 Review: Dead Heat

From Goodreads:
For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles's role as his father's enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way...

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae's cold war with humanity is about to heat up—and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire.

My Review:
This book was so awesome! We got to meet people who were a part of Charles past, who were his friends even though Charles is a pretty scary-looking dude. Meaning that we haven't seen any friends previous to this book!

Charles and Anna have been together for a few years now, so a few years have been skipped. And they've gone through a lot in those years. And this time is no different, between the various things going on in this book!

Like the woman cursed to kill her children and then herself because of a replaced child, you know, the usual fey antics. But this family is connected to Charles' friends, so of course he and Anna investigate right away!

The ending was a bit sad, because of all the deaths, but the bad guy did lose, so that was good, and he didn't manage to kill the kids, which is even better! But the underlying cause, that the fey let this guy go so he could do this...yeah, bad things are coming!

I enjoyed this book so much, it was so great, and I can't wait to read more! Boo for an unknown publication date for #5, yeah for Fire Touched!
