Week 34 Review: Nine Liars

From Goodreads:
Stevie Bell solved the case of Truly Devious, and now she's taking her detecting skills abroad when she becomes embroiled in a mystery from 1990s England. Another pulse-pounding and laugh-out-loud stand-alone mystery from New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson.

Senior year at Ellingham Academy for Stevie Bell isn't going well. Her boyfriend, David, is studying in London. Her friends are obsessed with college applications. With the cold case of the century solved, Stevie is adrift. There is nothing to distract her from the questions pinging around her brain--questions about college, love, and life in general.

Relief comes when David invites Stevie and her friends to join him for study abroad, and his new friend Izzy introduces her to a double-murder cold case. In 1995, nine friends from Cambridge University went to a country house and played a drunken game of hide-and-seek. Two were found in the woodshed the next day, murdered with an ax.

The case was assumed to be a burglary gone wrong, but one of the remaining seven saw something she can't explain. This was no break-in. Someone's lying about what happened in the woodshed.

Seven suspects. Two murders. One killer still playing a deadly game.

My Review:
Oh man, this book! I love this series, and I'm glad that we got another stand alone mystery for Stevie to solve, it was great to have the characters all back together again! I had such a great time watching her deal with her personal life while also investigating this case!

Stevie is in a bit of a slump. Her friends are all talking about college, and she has no clue about what she wants to do with her future. And David is in England-and he calls and invites the group to come over for a week. But that doesn't solve all her problems.

I really enjoyed this case, it kinda reminded me of A Forgotten Murder by Jude Devereaux, which also had an American investigative team solving a mystery in England, and that's a great comparison to make, because I really enjoyed that book, as well! And the way it gets solved, yeah, that was so fantastic!

There was also a bit of drama in her personal life, David seems to have all his time being taken up by another girl. And oh, do I hope that we get a 6th book, because I can't have it end there! That was such an evil ending!

This was such a great read, and I really hope we get more in this series!
