Week 44 Review: Loveboat Forever

From Goodreads:
Pearl was ready for a worldwide stage. Instead, she needs to stage a comeback.

Seventeen-year-old music prodigy Pearl Wong had the summer of her dreams planned: she'd been accepted into the ultra-exclusive New York Summer Symphony, where she was going to prove once and for all that she belonged in the rigid, unforgiving classical music world.

Then a fall from grace put her in need of new plans—and a new image. Where better to rebuild her shattered reputation than at Chien Tan, the Taipei summer program for elite students that rocketed her older sister, Ever, on a path to romance and self fulfilment years ago?

Pearl's agent agrees. It's the perfect plan. But as the alumni know, Chien Tan is actually Loveboat: a well-kept secret extravaganza, where prodigies party till dawn. There’s more awaiting Pearl at Loveboat than she could have ever imagined, like a scandalous party in the dark, a romantic entanglement with a mysterious suitor . . . and a summer that will change her forever.

Set six years after the events of Loveboat, Taipei, Loveboat Forever brings the whole gang back to campus for another reunion.

My Review:
I loved reading this book! I really enjoyed the first two, and that we get Pearl's story? I couldn't get enough, that we have another Loveboat, Taipei group, with some familiar faces joining? I had to read this book!

It's been a while since I read the first book, so I don't remember much of Pearl as a kid. That she has a dream of magic, and then has a fantastic summer program fall through? Not great. Of course Chien Tan sounds great, but it's also a non-stop party, and full of drama, including a love triangle, which I had a great time with!

Watching as Pearl went on this adventure, I really enjoyed her journey. To connect with her family's past and cultural identity, that was a heart-warming part of the story. She was adrift, and this rooted her, which I really liked.

It is bittersweet, because I've enjoyed this series from the beginning, and it was great to have them all come back, even though this is the last time that we'll see them, most likely. The issues between Ever and Rick are worked out, and all in all it was a delightful read!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to read more by Abigail Hing Wen!
