A sharp-edged, supremely twisty thriller about three women who find themselves trapped inside stories they know aren't their own, from the author of Alice and Near the Bone.
Celia wakes up in a house that's supposed to be hers. There's a little girl who claims to be her daughter and a man who claims to be her husband, but Celia knows this family—and this life—is not hers…
Allie is supposed to be on a fun weekend trip—but then her friend's boyfriend unexpectedly invites the group to a remote cabin in the woods. No one else believes Allie, but she is sure that something about this trip is very, very wrong…
Maggie just wants to be home with her daughter, but she's in a dangerous situation and she doesn't know who put her there or why. She'll have to fight with everything she has to survive…
Three women. Three stories. Only one way out. This captivating novel will keep readers guessing until the very end.
My Review:
I loved reading this book! I really enjoy Christina Henry's books, and this latest one where one lady wakes up in a life that doesn't seem to be hers, sounded really fantastic, and these other two are in tricky situations, I wanted to know what was going on, and how things were all connected!
I loved the way that we were told this story. We would focus on one lady, and start to understand her story and mystery, and then we would jump to the next lady, until we had all 3, And then things were woven together, and oh, it was just so good! On the surface, these different ladies lives seem like they can't be connected in some way, they're different, with different particulars and situations. The overarching mystery of their connections? Loved it!
Getting to know these characters, yeah, they were all in rough situations that was difficult for each of them, like it was designed to maximise how awful it was for the individual. Tension kept rising, because we got to know these ladies, and oh, it was so good!
Really, this is such a well done story. I was on the edge of my seat, wondering how they were going to deal with their specific situation, what was going on. That ending was so great, but I do wish there had been more, I always want more!
This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to read more by Christina Henry!
