Week 3 Review: The Ever Cruel Kingdom

From Goodreads:
After a treacherous journey and a life-shattering meeting with a twin neither knew they had, Haidee and Odessa expected to emerge from the Great Abyss to a world set right. But though the planet is turning once again, the creatures of the abyss will not rest until they have tasted another goddess's sacrifice.

To break the cycle, Haidee and Odessa need answers that lie beyond the seven gates of the underworld, within the Cruel Kingdom itself. The shadows of the underworld may hunger to tear them apart, but these two sisters are determined to heal their world—together.

My Review:
Wow, this was just such a fantastic read! I loved being with these characters again in this world, and I just wanted to see where things would go from where the first book ended. And it didn't disappoint! I loved watching have these sisters together, working together! It was fantastic!

We did alternate between the same 4 perspectives, the twin teen goddesses, and their love interests. I loved getting to see all of their perspectives, because Lan and Arjun are very deeply connected to what's going on because they are deeply connected to Haidee and Odessa!

I loved watching the group deal with fixing the Breaking, finding out exactly what happened, and all the secrets that their mothers were keeping from that time. And boy do they have some adventures along the way, as well as some pretty heartfelt moments!

But oh, that ending! The way that things worked out, the pieces were laid out, but I hadn't put them together. And it was a little heartbreaking, but we were warned. But it was a really satisfying ending, and I'm so glad that I read this book!

Loved this book so much, and I can't wait to read more by Rin Chupeco!
