OK, so I got 35 posts in 7 days, it was a decent reading week, but it wasn't the best, we had a death in the family, and the funeral was yesterday. What about you guys? Happy reading!
So this week I want to read Everything, Everything, The Power of Hades.
So this week I want to read Everything, Everything, The Power of Hades.
The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller
If you love Eleanor and Park, Hazel and Augustus, and Mia and Adam, you’ll love the story of Maddy, a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly, the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken. This innovative and heartfelt debut novel unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more.
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.
I've been kidnapped by Zeus. Plucked from the streets of Manhattan and frightened half to death by a freaking Olympian god.
And now I'm trapped in the Underworld, being forced to compete in a series of deadly trials for the position of Queen of the Underworld. Which would mean marrying Hades, the utterly terrifying Lord of the Dead. Who the hell wants a husband at all, let alone one made of smoke and riddled with death?
I have to get back home, to New York and my brother. But I can't leave without completing the trials and they've been designed for a godly Queen, not Persephone - barista and botanical garden enthusiast.
I'm surrounded by lethal, all-powerful maniacs. Sexy-as-hell maniacs, sure, but as dangerous as they come. And I'm going to have to prove to all of them that there's a goddess of hell inside me. It's the only way I'll survive the Hades Trials. But then what? And why, why, why am I so desperate to see under Hades smoky exterior and find out what he's hiding from me?
If I win the trials, I have to marry the devil himself. But losing might mean losing my life.
I heard Nicola Yoon speak some years ago now and bought Everything Everything. I never did get around to reading it before I donated it during one of my shelf purges. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAh, too bad. Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
DeleteI read a Nicola Yoon book a while ago, although it wasn't that one. I'd be open to reading her again, but I've been kind of off YA lately. Maybe when it starts to appeal to me again... - Melinda @ A Web of Stories
ReplyDeleteI haven't read her books yet, but I want to, hopefully I will this week! And maybe when YA is appealing again :) Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
