Week 27 Review: Below Zero

It will take the frosty terrain of the Arctic to show these rival scientists that their chemistry burns hot.

Mara, Sadie, and Hannah are friends first, scientists always. Though their fields of study might take them to different corners of the world, they can all agree on this universal truth: when it comes to love and science, opposites attract and rivals make you burn…

Hannah's got a bad feeling about this. Not only has the NASA aerospace engineer found herself injured and stranded at a remote Arctic research station—but the one person willing to undertake the hazardous rescue mission is her longtime rival.

Ian has been many things to Hannah: the villain who tried to veto her expedition and ruin her career, the man who stars in her most deliciously lurid dreams…but he's never played the hero. So why is he risking everything to be here? And why does his presence seem just as dangerous to her heart as the coming snowstorm?

My Review:
Man, this was another amazing novella! I loved getting the story of the last of the friend group, of Hannah's story. And it was really great to see Mar and Sadie and their guy's again, albeit briefly. I see some fun times in their future!

Like the first two, this one plays around with the timeline. We start off with the peril, work our way back, work our way back even further, and then alternate between the nearer past, and the present. These two have years of history, even of most of it wasn't together.

I found it so funny that Ian is Mara's cousin or something. That added an interesting dynamic to their story. But oh, did they have an instant connection! But she had some issues, notably in thinking that if someone actually got to know her, they wouldn't want to spend time with her, and that sucks to be in that mindset!

The main drama in this book is the mission that she wants to undertake-and that he blocks. And right at the beginning, well, we can kinda see why, given that she's thinking she's going to die. I really enjoyed watching that play out-though I would've liked to see some consequences for that one guy besides having the whole thing written up in a report.

I had a really great time reading this book, and I can't wait to read more by Ali Hazelwood!
