Week 30 Review: Mortal Gods

From Goodreads:
Ares, god of war, is leading the other dying gods into battle. Which is just fine with Athena. She's ready to wage a war of her own, and she's never liked him anyway. If Athena is lucky, the winning gods will have their immortality restored. If not, at least she'll have killed the bloody lot of them, and she and Hermes can die in peace.

Cassandra Weaver is a weapon of fate. The girl who kills gods. But all she wants is for the god she loved and lost to return to life. If she can't have that, then the other gods will burn, starting with his murderer, Aphrodite.

The alliance between Cassandra and Athena is fragile. Cassandra suspects Athena lacks the will to truly kill her own family. And Athena fears that Cassandra's hate will get them all killed.

The war takes them across the globe, searching for lost gods, old enemies, and Achilles, the greatest warrior the world has ever seen. As the struggle escalates, Athena and Cassandra must find a way to work together. Because if they can't, fates far worse than death await.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I really enjoyed the first one, but I had to reread it since it'd been a while. I had a great time going on their further adventures, now that everyone has met up! It was such a great read!

After the events of Antigoddess, Cassandra is basically a bit ball of hurt and anger. Which is understandable, given what she lost, but it did mean that she was unpredictable, and some of her outbursts were reasonable. Some of them were not. So she had a bit of healing to go through, not that she was given a lot of opportunity to!

The bulk of this book was gathering allies, and strategizing. Sometimes they did clash with Ares and such, but for the most part, it was dealing with the events of the last book, and learning to work together as a team, though there were definitely some hiccups.

There were a few more players on the table with Ares, Calliope, Achilles, and the Fates. It was great to get to know the ones that we did, and oh, I'm so excited to see how everyone is going to play their roles in the final book!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to finish off this series!
