Week 42 Review: Kill Me Softly

From Goodreads:
Mirabelle's past is shrouded in secrecy, from her parents' tragic deaths to her guardians' half-truths about why she can't return to her birthplace, Beau Rivage. Desperate to see the town, Mira runs away a week before her sixteenth birthday—and discovers a world she never could have imagined.

In Beau Rivage, nothing is what it seems—the strangely pale girl with a morbid interest in apples, the obnoxious playboy who's a beast to everyone he meets, and the chivalrous guy who has a thing for damsels in distress. Here, fairy tales come to life, curses are awakened, and ancient stories are played out again and again.

But fairy tales aren't pretty things, and they don't always end in happily ever after. Mira has a role to play, a fairy tale destiny to embrace or resist. As she struggles to take control of her fate, Mira is drawn into the lives of two brothers with fairy tale curses of their own . . . brothers who share a dark secret. And she'll find that love, just like fairy tales, can have sharp edges and hidden thorns.

My Review:
This was a really fantastic book! I loved this world of fairy tales in the now, and yeah, the way that they are in this book, well, yeah, just really, utterly, fantastic! Loved reading about Mira, Blue, Freddie, Viv, Jewel, and all of them! So great!

I didn't really like Felix. He was hot and cold, and as Mira discovers, takes in forgiveness, but doesn't give it out. Which also applies to another big thing like forgiveness-love. Because he is a Romantic, and yeah, the secrets he keeps, yeah!

I can understand why Mira didn't know about the Blackbeard tale. She has been raised without fairy tales because she's a sleeping beauty. But also, because while Blackbeard is a tale, it's not a fairy tale, it doesn't have magic. But then there's the explanation given that those that wrote them weren't a part of them, so details were lost or hidden. So the Romantic side of the Blackbeard tale wasn't there. Yep!

So I'm left with a few questions. Were Mira's parents cursed? And if so, with what? And why wasn't Felix knocked out like the rest of the people in the casino? And what's going to happen when he comes after Mira, because he will? And will Freddie get a happy ending because his princess is with another girl?

Such a really fantastic book, I enjoyed it so much, and I can't wait for other books by Sarah Cross, this was a great debut!
