Week 40 Review: A Terrible Fall of Angels

From Goodreads:
Angels walk among us, but so do other unearthly beings in this brand new series by #1 New York Times Bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton.

Meet Detective Zaniel Havelock, a man with the special ability to communicate directly with angels. A former trained Angel speaker, he devoted his life to serving both the celestial beings and his fellow humans with his gift, but a terrible betrayal compelled him to leave that life behind. Now he's a cop who is still working on the side of angels. But where there are angels, there are also demons. There's no question that there's evil at work when he's called in to examine the murder scene of a college student—but is it just the evil that one human being can do to another, or is it something more? When demonic possession is a possibility, even angelic protection can only go so far. The race is on to stop a killer before he finds his next victim, as Zaniel is forced to confront his own very personal demons, and the past he never truly left behind.

The first in a new series from the author of the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series.

My Review:
This was a really great book to read! This is her first series, as far as I can tell, with a male protagonist. Zaniel is more like Anita, what with being a cop and all, with prowess with guns. I had such a great time reading this book, it was a great start to this series!

This world of angels and demons, and Angel Speakers is so very fascinating! Of course, things aren't normal, or else what would be the plot of this book! And that abnormality is in the mystery that Zaniel is investigating, which quickly leads to never before seen events which was so crazy and wild!

There was the main murder mystery going on. There was also the mystery of Zaniel's past, of why he left the Angel Speakers. So we had those two plot lines going on, plus Zaniel's current life situation, where he and his wife are separated, but are attending couples counseling. So there was a lot going on!

Everything that was set up in this book, and there was quite a few things, I'm interested in seeing how it'll continue on in the future. With the way things ended, there's going to be some changes, and I can't wait to see how they're going to play out!

I had a great time reading this book, and I can't wait to see where this series goes from here!
