The Iron Prince—my nephew—betrayed us all.
He killed me.
Then, I woke up.
Waking after a month on the brink of death, Ethan Chase is stunned to learn that the Veil that conceals the fey from human sight was temporarily torn away. Although humankind's glimpse of the world of Faery lasted just a brief moment, the human world has been cast into chaos, and the emotion and glamour produced by fear and wonder has renewed the tremendous power of the Forgotten Queen. Now, she is at the forefront of an uprising against the courts of Summer and Winter—a reckoning that will have cataclysmic effects on the Nevernever.
Leading the Lady's Forgotten Army is Keirran himself: Ethan's nephew, and the traitor son of the Iron Queen, Meghan Chase. To stop Keirran, Ethan must disobey his sister once again as he and his girlfriend, Kenzie, search for answers long forgotten. In the face of unprecedented evil and unfathomable power, Ethan's enemies must become his allies, and the world of the fey will be changed forevermore.
My first review of The Iron Warrior
My Review:
Oh, this was such a great read! I knew that things would work out, mostly, but yeah, the ending of the previous book was still evil! But things quickly kick into gear once Ethan wakes up, and the war is imminent now.
A big reason why Keirran is doing what he's doing, is the amulet that was made to keep Annwyl alive. But it's feed on his humanity, and that doesn't help him in making good decisions. Plus there's the whole, I've done so many bad things, I have to continue, or else what was the point? Which is hard to fight!
Between the fight for Faery, and the quest that they go on because of it, and Ethan's conflicted feelings, there's a lot going on. But him and Kenzie are solid, which is really great, because it's a bit of light in all the dark. I just loved the two of them together!
If I have one complaint, is that we're told over and over that Forgotten Queen was such a power, that everyone was scared of her coming back. But she never displays any power that's bigger than a ruler of Faery. Most of the threat is because Keirran is leading the army, and the Forgotten's ability to suck the glamour away from the traditional fey. And that final battle was over pretty quickly, given how much a threat she was supposed to be. The Iron Fey was a much bigger problem to face in my opinion. But that's the only negative!
Loved reading this book, and I'm so excited to continue and read the Evenfall series
