As a glassmaker and a magician-in-training, Opal Cowen understands trial by fire. Now it's time to test her mettle. Someone has sabotaged the Stormdancer clan's glass orbs, killing their most powerful magicians. The Stormdancers—particularly the mysterious and mercurial Kade—require Opal's unique talents to prevent it happening again. But when the mission goes awry, Opal must tap in to a new kind of magic as stunningly potent as it is frightening. And the further she delves into the intrigue behind the glass and magic, the more distorted things appear. With lives hanging in the balance—including her own—Opal must control powers she hadn't known she possessed-powers that might lead to disaster beyond anything she's ever known.

My Review:
It was so great to read this book again! I just love Maria V. Snyder's writing, and reading the beginning of Opal's story was just fantastic! I loved seeing this world through her eyes, a magician who can't do, really, any of the regular things magicians can do. Seeing her struggle with all of that made for great reading!
I remembered the ending of this book, mainly, what happened but not quite why. So basically like I was driving into this story for the first time, albeit with some former knowledge. So that was great. I really enjoyed going on this adventure again.
There's also the fact that I know how things are going to end romantically, and watching all of these interactions, knowing how they're going to play out, all, it was really great to see their beginnings. Man, did they have a rough start, and a lot to overcome!
That ending was just amazing to read, and I can't wait to see the rest of Opal's story play out. There's questions for Opal to find answers for, and I can't wait to go on that journey with her! She has some ups and downs ahead of her, and I'm pumped to reread more!
Loved reading this book again, and I can't wait to reread the rest of this series!
