Week 34 Reviews: Labyrinth Lost, Bruja Born

From Goodreads:
The only way to get her family back is to travel to a land in between, as dark as Limbo and as strange as Wonderland...

Alex is a bruja, the most powerful witch in a generation...and she hates magic.

At her Deathday celebration, Alex performs a spell to rid herself of her power. But it backfires. Her whole family vanishes into thin air, leaving her alone with Nova, a brujo boy she's not sure she can trust, but who may be Alex's only chance at saving her family.

From Goodreads:
Lula Mortiz may be a bruja with healing powers, but after her family's battle in Los Lagos, she feels broken in a way she can't seem to fix. Then tragedy strikes when a bus crash leaves her friends and her boyfriend, Maks, dead. Desperate to reclaim normalcy, Lula invokes a dark spell to bring Maks back. It isn't until she hears that all of the bodies from the crash have gone missing that she realizes something is wrong. Lula has unwittingly raised an army of casi muertos--creatures between the living and dead--and they're hungry for freedom...which they can only achieve if Lula dies.

My Review:
These books were just really fantastic reads. I loved this world of Brujas, and there was diversity and there was magic and they were both really fantastic reads, and I can't wait to continue the series, and get the 3rd Mortiz sister's story! They were just such intense, fast paced books!

This is a series about magic, and a series about family. We follow the Mortiz family, each sister has gotten a book. A lot happens to these characters, like being sucked into a a strange magical world, to their missing father. They were just so great to read!

Alex doesn't want to be a bruja. But things go wrong when she tries to deny her magic, and she has to go on a quest to find her family. I loved watching this adventure, learning about this world and the characters, and watching the characters interact!

Bruja Born followed Lula, set in New York. It also expanded the world, and it was just wonderful to read! I loved watching her complicated emotions because of the accident, and what she does to fix it. But of course things go wrong, and I just really enjoyed her story as well!

These were two really fantastic reads, and I'm so excited to continue the series!
