Week 14 Reviews: These Broken Stars, This Night So Dark

It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they're worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other's arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won't be the same people who landed on it.

From Goodreads:
Tarver still has nightmares about the night, six months before the Icarus crash, when he rescued a group of civilian researchers being held hostage by brutal mercenaries. Now Tarver and Lilac must reconcile his memories of that fateful night with the truth that they uncovered on a mysterious planet after the Icarus crashed.

My first review of These Broken Stars, This Night So Dark
My Review:
I loved reading these stories again! And it was great to read This Night So Dark, which stars Tarver, with the book that he was the main character! I loved being back in this world with these characters, and I'm so excited to continue my reread!

I've only read these stories the one time each before this, and that was almost a decade ago. So it was really time for me to reread them, I just enjoy them so much! Seeing the start of Tarver and Lilac after the crash, and then the events that lead to him having all that attention on him.

These Broken Stars, I remembered some things, like that she died, and the aliens that her dad had captive were released. But the little moments, like when he was injured and she had to take care of him? Totally forgotten, which is the joy of rereads!

This Night so Dark, knowing what they know now, that the potential threats to that engine is why the Icarus crashed...yeah, that wasn't great. But it was great to see this period of time, of this whole situation that ended up making the news and being the reason why he was on the Icarus.

These were both really great reads, and I can't wait to continue on!
