Week 15 Review: Furyborn

From Goodreads:
The stunningly original, must-read fantasy of 2018 follows two fiercely independent young women, centuries apart, who hold the power to save their world...or doom it.

When assassins ambush her best friend, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing herself as one of a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light, and a queen of blood. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven elemental magic trials. If she fails, she will be executed...unless the trials kill her first.

One thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a fairy tale to Eliana Ferracora. A bounty hunter for the Undying Empire, Eliana believes herself untouchable--until her mother vanishes. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain and discovers that the evil at the empire's heart is more terrible than she ever imagined.

As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world--and of each other.

My Review:
Yeah, wow, this book was so freaking amazing! I loved this world of angels and magic! There were some pretty unexpected twists, and some reveals that we knew had to be coming, and yeah, it all came together in a really excellent book that I loved reading!

We know from the synopsis and the very beginning, that Rielle would be the Queen of Blood, not the Sun Queen. So we know that the trials that she faced, they didn't test the right thing. That they didn't know how the queens would be different, well, it's prophecy's! They're not clear until after the fact!

Eliana, she's who most of us would be in her situation. We'd do whatever it took to protect our families, even if that meant doing bad things. So I didn't dislike her in the beginning, per say, but I did dislike what she embodied!

That ending, wow! Well, there was technically two, but there's a sense of inevitability, since the events with Rielle have already happened by the time Eliana was having hers. But they both face loss, and they both face uncertain futures. So excited to see where it's going to go from here!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read the next one!
