Harry Dresden--Wizard

Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well, technically, he's the only at what he does. So when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends mortal creativity or capability, they come to him for answers. For the "everyday" world is actually full of strange and magical things--and most of them don't play too well with humans. That's where Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a--well, whatever.
There's just one problem. Business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry's seeing dollar signs. But where there's magic, there's a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry's name. And that's when things start to get... interesting.
Magic. It can get a guy killed.
From Goodreads:
You'd think there’d be a little more action for the only professional wizard listed in the Chicago phone book. But lately, Harry Dresden hasn’t been able to dredge up any kind of work: magical, mundane, or menial.
Just when it looks like he can't afford his next meal, a murder comes along that requires his particular brand of supernatural expertise. There's a brutally mutilated corpse, and monstrous animal markings at the scene. Not to mention that the killing took place on the night of a full moon. Harry knows exactly where this case is headed. Take three guesses—and the first two don't count...
My Review:
Wow, it was so fantastic reading these books! I wasn't really expecting to read them, since I'd been hoping to read this series for a little while now, but I just starting reading, and I couldn't put them down, and read more then I had previously planned, which was pretty freaking great!
A Fistful of Warlocks, it apparently came out pretty much the latest, but chronologically, it's the earliest. And the fact that Jim Butcher mentioned that he had an idea for a 5 book series, well, that's fantastic, and the possibility is much higher of it happening, since it's a pretty recent thing! Yeah!
This world was pretty interesting. There's magic, but most people don't believe in it. But it's there and it's causing a major rise in crime. In comes Harry Dresden, as well as Karrin Murphy, who we met in Restoration of Faith. They have a lot of their plates!
We explored a few different areas in these books, from black magic to werewolves. There's plenty more to explore, because there's the Nevernever, which I'm pretty curious about. And I can't wait to see more mysteries, and see Dresden get in-and out-of some pretty perilous situations!
Yeah, really enjoyed this series, it's so fantastic to read, and I can't wait to read more!
