Week 42 Review: Sword of Destiny

From Goodreads:
Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.

This is a collection of short stories, following the adventures of the hit collection THE LAST WISH. Join Geralt as he battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike...

My Review:
I really enjoyed this collection of stories. It's more traditional than the first collection, because that one had that one story told in chapters between the other stories, but this one had a great collection of stories with Geralt, and it was just a great read!

There were some stories that were familiar from the tv show, like the dragon one. And there were similar ones, like Ciri in the forest, but that was different, because she met Geralt there, and he brought her back to her family.

There was one story that was basically a downer. At first it fit right in with the rest of them, with Geralt tasked with investigating this dangerous sea cliff place that you could walk to when the tide was low. But between the whole "humans trying to assert dominance everywhere" and the lady, and then the end of the story narrated by Dandelion, this story was just so sad

On the other hand, there was a story that was really clever, with a shapeshifter character. It was pretty darned hilarious, between Dandelion's furious ex, to the shapeshifter having taken the merchant's money, and made a killing. It was just so clever and funny, and a highlight in this anthology for me.

I really enjoyed watching Ciri and Geralt's interactions in these stories. There were only two, the one in the forest, and the one when they find each other after the sacking of Cintra. The meeting from the season 1 finale of the show. This is just the beginning of their relationship, and I loved it!

This was a really great collection of stories, and I can't wait to dive into the full length books in this series!
