My Review:
Oh, I had such a fun time reading this book! I really enjoy Katee Robert's writing, and this series is just so interesting, with monster porn, and I enjoyed getting Thane and Catalina's story! They're both people who've been damaged by life, but they fit together!
Catalina's life has mainly been her being told that she's a screw up, she messes things up, she's not wanted. Which is a horrible message to send to anyone, especially when it was her mom doing it. But it adds a layer of complication now, with the demon bargain, what she perceives as harm is further away then was intended. We don't want Thane to lose his kingdom, but she was harmed-and the bargain didn't pick up on it.
Thane's hurt is that his husband was killed, by a dragon. And while he wants peace in the realm, he is tired of being the king. His sibling has basically taken over everything besides the title, with them switching duties, but it's still weighing down on him.
I loved their relationship, they both brought out something new for the other, they supported one another. And the note that the author wrote, that it was written around when Roe v. Wade was overturned, made that ending very fitting, and in line with these characters, and I'm glad for that!
Loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue the series!
