Week 12 Review: Wardens of Eternity

From Goodreads:
Ziva Ellison has one memory of her parents, made the day they abandoned her on the streets of New York City when she was three years old. They left her with only a memory and a promise that she had a great and terrible destiny.

Fifteen years later, Ziva discovers that destiny includes powers that she doesn't understand and can barely control. Her magic attracts vicious, otherworldly monsters, and eventually compatriots to help her fight them. Sayer and Nasira know the secrets Ziva doesn't; that Ziva is descended from Egyptian royalty and in possession of ancient magic passed down from the time of the gods. They promise to teach Ziva to control her magic and to give her the family she's always yearned for.

But trouble is brewing in the world around them; darkness is descending on Hitler's Germany, threatening World War II. As the last heir of a revered Egyptian queen, Ziva is the only one with the power to prevent another costly global conflict. As Ziva navigates her newfound abilities and makes a connection with Anubis and other Egyptian gods, the Nazis are hunting for the ultimate weapon, and Ziva has caught their interest.

My Review:
Oh man, this book! It was so great, I loved learning about the magic, and the gods, and the history! That a good portion is about racism in the time before WWII, and how Europeans treated everything Egyptian, yeah that was awful!

Ziva has lived by herself for most of her life, making ends meet, abandoned by her parents. But she has this power, that she doesn't know much about, but oh, does she find out! I really enjoyed watching her learn about her power, and how to fight!

The whole thing with Ziva being the heir to the Egyptian queen, it had me apprehensive. There had to be a reason why her parents did what they did. And oh, when that all went down,, that was infuriating on behalf of Ziva, it was just so cruel!

I'm really hoping that there's going to be a sequel. It did come out 3 years ago, but the pandemic has happened in those years, and her blog talks about her farm so between the two, that could be a reason why there hasn't been a sequel released. But I hope there will be, the way things ended, I need to know what's going to happen next!

This was such a wonderful read, and I really hope we get a sequel!
