Week 29 Review: Dragonfall

From Goodreads:
The first in an epic fantasy trilogy from Sunday Times bestselling author L.R. Lam.

Long ago, humans betrayed dragons, stealing their magic and banishing them to a dying world. Centuries later, their descendants worship dragons as gods. But the 'gods' remember, and they do not forgive.

Thief Arcady scrapes a living on the streets of Vatra. Desperate, Arcady steals a powerful artifact from the bones of the Plaguebringer, the most hated person in Lumet history. Only Arcady knows the artifact's magic holds the key to a new life among the nobles at court and a chance for revenge.

The spell connects to Everen, the last male dragon foretold to save his kind, dragging him through the Veil. Disguised as a human, Everen soon learns that to regain his true power and form and fulfill his destiny, he only needs to convince one little thief to trust him enough to bond completely–body, mind, and soul–and then kill them.

Yet the closer the two become, the greater the risk both their worlds will shatter.

My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book! With all the hype that dragon books have gotten this year, I had to pick this one up! The details of this world with the dragons being killed off by humans, but later worshiped as gods? Yeah, it was such an interesting concept!

There was a plague in the human realm not that long ago. And it was blamed on one man-Arcady's grandfather. Arcady was just a child when everything happened, and has been living a meagre existence. But with his grandfather's artifact, he can insert himself into the nobles lives.

Everen was such a great character! That he's been prophecies to save the rest of the dragons, he's got a lot of pressure on his wings. To go from the realm that the dragons have carved out for themselves back to one with the humans, that was a huge adjustment.

I loved that we got both perspectives, as the story unfolded and we learned more about this world, and how things worked. As the characters grew closer together and events occurred and we learned more of this world, it all came together really well!

I had a fantastic time reading this book, and I can't wait for the sequels!
