Persephone and Hades are engaged. In retaliation, Demeter summons a snowstorm that cripples New Greece, and refuses to lift the blizzard unless her daughter calls off her engagement.
When the Olympians intervene, Persephone finds her future in the hands of ancient gods, and they are divided. Do they allow Persephone to marry Hades and go to war with Demeter or prohibit their union and take up arms against the God of the Dead?
Nothing is certain but the promise of war.
My Review:
Oh, I loved reading this book! I was dying to read it right after A Touch of Ruin, but I had to read A Game of Fate first, and boy, I just dived right into this story! I had to know how this war would start, and it was such a great story!
This is the book where Persephone starts to get angry. She's been upset, she's been grieving, but this is the book where she gets furious, and I can totally understand why. Between her mother's storm, and the Triad, there's a lot to be upset over. Plus there's some of the gods that want to prevent her marriage to Hades. The anger hasn't bubbled over really...yet. I can't wait to see it!
Tension is really building up in this book. That mortals are starting to really question what is the point of the gods, because they aren't doing anything about the storm. And Persephone agrees in some part with their complaints, but she wants the gods to change, to be better, not overthrow them and install the demi-gods in.
One thing I'm wondering-how could the favour that Hades owed Perseus mean that Perseus could borrow Persephone? I don't get how that worked. And oh, that thing with the ring, I wish she'd set it somewhere, not given it to him, to not have his awful fingers touch it! And then what happens wouldn't have!
Loved reading this book, and I can't wait for A Game of Gods, and A Touch of Chaos!
