Week 31 Review: Blood Red Road

From Goodreads:
Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when a monster sandstorm arrives, along with four cloaked horsemen, Saba's world is shattered. Lugh is captured, and Saba embarks on an epic quest to get him back.
Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the world outside of desolate Silverlake, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her. So perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Saba learns about herself: she's a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. And she has the power to take down a corrupt society from the inside. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.
Blood Red Road has a searing pace, a poetically minimal writing style, violent action, and an epic love story. Moira Young is one of the most promising and startling new voices in teen fiction.
My first review of Blood Red Road
My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book again! It's been a long time since I first read it, and I did remember parts of it wrong, but I loved being in this world with these characters again, though Saba's unique way of narrating (because she hasn't had a formal education) did grate a little bit.

I remembered a few beats of this story, like a bit about Jack, and her captivity. But I forgot so much about this story! I loved Saba have to deal with her sister (and not being the kindest, though it was a difficult situation. Though Saba didn't like Emmi to begin with.) And this world is just so interesting!

This is only the start of the series, and I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. I loved Saba's journey, both her physical one, and her mental one. She does some growing up, some opening up, and I loved her character growth!

That ending though, that was a bit hard to read. There was the loss, and there were the questions, and there was Jack going off on a mission. So I do have a question. Is the images that ended up coming true-is it possible to see the future in this world? I need to know!

I'm really hopeful that I continue this series this time! I just want to know where it going to go next!
