Week 45 Review: A Sense of Danger

From Goodreads:
A SPY…

My name is Charlotte Locke, and I'm an analyst for Section 47, a secret government agency that tracks terrorists, criminals, and other paramortal bad guys who want to unleash their abilities on an unsuspecting mortal world. I have a magical form of synesthesia that senses danger and uncovers lies—making me a stealthy operative.

I'm trudging through another day when one of Section's cleaners—assassins—takes an interest in me. I don't need my synesthesia to realize that he is extremely dangerous and that he will do anything to achieve his goals—even if it means putting me in the line of fire.

…AND AN ASSASSIN

I'm Desmond Percy, one of Section 47's most lethal cleaners. I'm also a man on a mission, and I need Charlotte Locke's skills to help me keep a promise, settle a score, and kill some extremely bad people.

Charlotte might not like me, but we're stuck together until my mission is over. Still, the more time we spend together, the more I’m drawn to her. But at Section 47, you never know who you can trust—or who might want you dead.

My Review:
I had a blast reading this book! I loved the idea of a secret government agency with paranormals, and I loved getting to know Charlotte and Desmond! They both have secrets, and they're both strong and capable and I love it!

Charlotte is fantastic! I loved her brain, she was smart and calculating and she's had a rough go of it, being targeted by her fathers enemies multiple occasions, until his death, which her grandmother tried to prevent by supplying the ransom demand, but it went south, and so between that and her grandmother's medical bills, Charlotte is deep in debt.  And that really sucks.

And then there's Desmond, who is in pretty great standing with Section 47. his dad is a higher up-and has history with Charlotte's dad. And he's on a mission to uncover the bad guys who caused his best friend to die in his arms. And Charlotte is somehow connected, bringing these two to investigate, which was fantastic to read!

I really enjoyed this mystery, and I loved how they used their various skills, to beat the bad guy, unmask the mole in the organization. That sequence of events was pretty spectacular, Charlotte brought her A game there!

This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here because I need more from this world!
