After her family is killed by corrupt warlord Aric Athair and his bloodthirsty army of Bullets, Caledonia Styx is left to chart her own course on the dangerous and deadly seas. She captains her ship, the Mors Navis, with a crew of girls and women just like her, who have lost their families and homes because of Aric and his men. The crew has one mission: stay alive, and take down Aric's armed and armored fleet.
But when Caledonia's best friend and second-in-command barely survives an attack thanks to help from a Bullet looking to defect, Caledonia finds herself questioning whether to let him join their crew. Is this boy the key to taking down Aric Athair once and for all...or will he threaten everything the women of the Mors Navis have worked for?
The first in a heart-stopping trilogy that recalls the undeniable feminine power of Wonder Woman and the powder-keg action of Mad Max: Fury Road, Seafire reminds us of the importance of sisterhood and unity in the face of oppression and tyranny.
My Review:
I just just a really great time reading this book! I loved her other series, and I was really excited to read this one! And boy, was it an epic read, I quickly became attached to these characters, and my emotions were definitely engaged, because the situations that they face are wildly unfair!
From the beginning, I was invested, that this group that includes her and her family are able to leave this very dangerous area, but are having a pit stop. That she meets this boy, who is a Bullet, and she is kind, but then he betrays her and most of the group, including her family, are killed? Yeah, that was infuriating!
That Caledonia creates this crew of girls and women to fight back? I had such a fantastic time with that, and when things get complicated by another Bullet, well, she has trust issues from the last time she tried, and I loved their dynamic!
This world was really interesting, and so were these characters, and with the way that things ended, has me so excited to see where the story is going to go in the future! I'm definitely hoping to see the bad guys taken down once and for all!
Loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue on with this series!
