Week 17 Review: Strange Candy

From Goodreads:
The #1 "New York Times" bestselling author's short story collection-including an all-new Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter story-now in paperback. From a woman who marries into a family of volatile wizards to a couple fleeing a gang of love-hungry cupids, from a girl who seeks sanctuary in the form of a graceful goose to the disgruntled superhero Captain Housework, readers will revel in the many twists and turns of fortune in these fantastical fairy tales and lush parables. Even hardened vampire hunter and zombie animator Anita Blake gets blindsided by the disturbing motives of her clients in the new "Those Who Seek Forgiveness" and in "The Girl Who Was Infatuated with Death."

My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this anthology collection of short stories! The title is apt, because they were strange, and little bits of candy! Well, that just sounds weird, but yeah, it's true! There were a few clumps of stories, not necessarily together, but in the same world, and then there were a few one offs.

I think my favourite of these, was either the cupid one, the goose girl, the monsters are real and they're our job, or the only sci fi one that would also be horror, because, man! I really enjoyed the first Anita-centric story (I didn't read the 2nd one, since I read series in order, or at least try, and the 2nd story is about 9 books away) but it it didn't quite capture my attention as the above 4.

A number of the stories were set in the world of Nightseer. Which I haven't read, and knowing that it's unlikely that there'll be a sequel (given that Q&A's with Laurell K. Hamilton says that her writing is too dark for what she had planned for the series) well, I won't be reading it. And that kinda sucks, because the world that was shown in these stories was really fascinating!

My one wish? I wish that there'd been at least one Merry Gentry short. Because that series, I'm devouring, and it would've been nice to have a short story there, exploring the world or side characters, because it's so fascinating. Oh well!

Such a wonderful collection of short stories, and I really enjoyed reading them!
