It's an all-new horror classic about what happens when the truth is the last thing we want to believe, from Bram Stoker Award-winner and master of thrills and chills, horror legend Adam Cesare.
After barely making it out of the Kettle Springs cornfields alive, Quinn's first year away at college should be safe and easy. All she wants is to be normal again.
But instead, Quinn finds that her past won't leave her alone when she becomes the focus of online conspiracy theories that claim the Kettle Springs Massacre never happened. It's a deranged but relentless fantasy, and there's nothing Quinn can do to get people to hear the truth--not even on her own campus or in her own dorm room.
So when a murderous clown attacks Quinn at a frat party while another goes after her father in Kettle Springs at the same time, Quinn realizes that the facts alone are never going to save her. Her only option is to go back into the cornfields, back where the nightmare began, to set the record straight the only way she knows how. Because when the truth gets lost in the lies, that's when people start to die.
Clown in a Cornfield was 2020's Bram Stoker Award Winner for Superior Achievement in a Young Adult Novel. Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives is perfectly set to attract old and new fans to the series.
My Review:
This book was a blast to read! I really enjoyed the first, though I wasn't expecting a sequel. Now that there is one, well, of course I read it! I really enjoyed seeing how they've changed from the first book-and how prepared they are now!
I don't quite remember how the first book went, in terms of the depiction of gore, but in this one, it was over the top to the point that, since it's not real, it's comedic. Just the way that it's described. There's this one scene where someone is run over, and boy was it something else!
Oh, the family Duvall. I loved that they were introduced in this book, because boy, all 3 members of the family cause drama! Though I felt bad for Rust and Cole, that was a lot of drama, but oh, was it so much fun to read!
In the first, I could almost understand the adult's motivations even if their actions were abhorrent, but in this one, was just infuriating! It was easy to root for the Three, as they were called, and given what they went through, they're not afraid to strike back!
That one reveal at the end, oh, man, that was a gut punch! It was such a clever twist, and I'm trying to dance around it without spoiling, but I really enjoyed it. There were some tiny details, and then some bigger ones as the book progressed, and there was a fitting end!
This was a fantastic read, and if there's a 3rd book, I'll definitely read it!
