Week 40 Review: Pawn

From Goodreads:
YOU CAN BE A VII. IF YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING.

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister's niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There's only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that's not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she's only beginning to understand.

My Review:
This was such a great book! I enjoyed it so much! Much darker then her Goddess Test series, but it's warranted, since this world that they're in is so much darker! What with the rankings, and a member of the Hart family filling the Prime Minster seat!

Kitty had to make a hard decision. Because the test that ranks the people once they come of age, didn't account for the population that has difficulties in sections, she ran out of time without answering all the questions, and even had to skip a section, and that's why she had a low score. But because of that, she would be taken away from her love. So then having the choice to be masked, that's hard!

This series really reminded me of the Selection series, with the collapsed society in which one family came into power, the ranking, though like I said, this book, and probably series, is much darker! I mean, what with all the twists and turns, betrayals, and revelations!

So between the fact that pretty much half of the royal family is fake, in hiding, or psychopaths, Kitty has a pretty hard time in the palace. And the trip to the place where dissenters go-where they're hunted for sport, not fun! It was just a place were you can't know who to trust!

This was a really fantastic book, and I can't wait for more! That was such a great ending!
