Week 44 Review: Unspoken

From Goodreads:
The final breathtaking YA romance in New York Times bestselling author C. C. Hunter's Shadow Falls: After Dark trilogy.

Despite her superspeed, inhuman strength, and enhanced senses, Della Tsang's new life as a vampire certainly hasn't been a walk in the park. Especially since she was "reborn" and found herself bound to the mysterious, infuriating, and hunky Chase. But if there's one thing that's always kept Della going, it's her dream of being an elite paranormal investigator.

When Della tries to solve a twenty year old murder--and clear her father's name--she uncovers secrets about the vampire council and the boy she's bonded to. Feeling even more betrayed by Chase because he's kept so much from her, she's determined to keep him as far away from her heart as she can. But together they work a cold case that will lead them into the darkest and ugliest vampire gangs in Texas... and into the scariest reaches of her heart.

My Review:
I loved reading this book! Things were just fantastic, we've been around these characters for a while, and then having this ending was just fantastic! I loved how things were resolved both in the romance and in the mystery! So awesome!

This is the book where Della chose her guy, between Chase and Steve, and yeah, it's kinda a big thing through the series, but a few things brought it to a close. Like Steve had chosen his future over her, proving that they weren't in love. And Chase prove to be a pretty great guy!

For most of this book (and the end of Eternal) I thought that it was her uncle that killed her aunt, because he's the identical twin of her dad. But then Chase proved that that wasn't the case. And how it all ended up, that was about the best case scenario!

This is the mystery that has taken up the whole series, whether we knew it or not. And I think it was solved very well, that it was because of her uncle her aunt died, but he didn't kill her, while her dad only pulled out the weapon, because she was in pain. That was about the best way for that to end!

Yeah, loved this book a whole ton, so great, and part of a great series!

Week 44 Review: On the Fence

From Goodreads:
For sixteen-year-old Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, being raised by a single dad and three older brothers has its perks. She can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows—including her longtime neighbor and honorary fourth brother, Braden. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn't know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world of makeup, lacy skirts, and BeDazzlers. Even stranger, she's spending time with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game.

To cope with the stress of faking her way through this new reality, Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with Braden by the fence that separates them. But their Fence Chats can't solve Charlie's biggest problem: she's falling for Braden. Hard. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

My Review:
This was a really fantastic book! I enjoyed reading about Charlie, the lone girl, a tomboy, the youngest child with a ton of older brothers. And a close friend who's a boy of the family living right next door. Yeah.

This book was about Charlie going into life that isn't quite like the one that she's lived. She goes into the world of makeup, girl friends and boys. And that was really fun to read, because that wasn't her world, she didn't understand it-but she learned about it, and made it a part of her!

I enjoyed the relationships that she had with her brothers. They were protective, and they were a bit clueless about the girl stuff, and that was really cute! And her relationship with Braden! It was meaningful, plus their competition to see who knew the other better!

There was the thing with her mom, and it turned out to be something of a mystery, connected to her nightmares. And as it turns out, her mom didn't have an accident, she committed suicide-not knowing that Charlie was in the backseat. So yeah, that kinda sucked! But she got to learn-and keep that knowledge.

Yeah, this was a really, really great book, and I enjoyed it so much!

Week 44 Review: Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

From Goodreads:
Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn't play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone's business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he's been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon's junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he's pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he's never met.

My Review:
This book was so fantastic! I enjoyed it so, so, so much, Simon was such a great character to read about! I loved reading about him and his friends, his story and theirs, they were interesting and different and really great!

It sucked that he was blackmailed. That he was blackmailed because he hadn't logged out of his email on a public computer. That someone went through it, because he could. That sucked. And to be blackmailed to set the guy up with his friend? That was pretty awful!

There was the mystery of who Blue was (and since I read the end I knew who he was!) and the clues that were there, and how they interacted, it was so cute! And their emails! I enjoyed them so much, with the subjects and the messages, they were epic!

When Simon came out to his family, that was pretty funny, because there wasn't a big reaction, it was something that wasn't all that surprising to them. And that he and Blue had that happy ending, after the blackmail material was released and the bullying that ensued.

Really fantastic book (and I'm going to be doing a homework assignment on it!) and I enjoyed it so much!

Week 44 Review: Say What You Will

From Goodreads:
John Green's The Fault in Our Stars meets Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor & Park in this beautifully written, incredibly honest, and emotionally poignant novel. Cammie McGovern's insightful young adult debut is a heartfelt and heartbreaking story about how we can all feel lost until we find someone who loves us because of our faults, not in spite of them.

Born with cerebral palsy, Amy can't walk without a walker, talk without a voice box, or even fully control her facial expressions. Plagued by obsessive-compulsive disorder, Matthew is consumed with repeated thoughts, neurotic rituals, and crippling fear. Both in desperate need of someone to help them reach out to the world, Amy and Matthew are more alike than either ever realized.

When Amy decides to hire student aides to help her in her senior year at Coral Hills High School, these two teens are thrust into each other's lives. As they begin to spend time with each other, what started as a blossoming friendship eventually grows into something neither expected.

My Review:
This book was really fantastic. I really enjoyed the back and forth between Amy and Matthew. They both had their issues, and while Amy's was more noticeable, people knew about Matthew's. It was just a really great story!

These were characters that I wanted to read about, Amy isn't someone that you hear about every day! So it was really interesting to watch her with the rest of the world, especially with Matthew, because they had a really great connection!

Amy's mom, I was conflicted. She was a really good parent, she cared for her daughter-she just wasn't right all the time. But she's human, she makes mistakes, as well as a parent, and teenager is the age when conflict really happens!

I really enjoyed the ending! That she gave up her baby, that was hard. But it wasn't mentioned-or I read too fast-what type of adoption it was, and what terms they had, so there is the possibility that Amy-and Matthew-could see her again!

Really, really great book, so fun and so great, and I'm so glad that I read it!

Week 44 Review: Phantom Evil

From Goodreads:
A secret government unit, a group of renegade paranormal investigators-and a murder no one else can crack

Though haunted by the recent deaths of two teammates, Jackson Crow knows that the living commit the most heinous crimes.

A police officer utilizing her paranormal intuition, Angela Hawkins already has her hands full of mystery and bloodshed.

But one assignment calls to them too strongly to resist. In a historic mansion in New Orleans's. And yet others believe she was beckoned by the ghostly spirits inhabiting the house-once the site of a serial killer's grisly work.

In this seemingly unsolvable case, only one thing is certain: whether supernatural or all too human, crimes of passion will cast Jackson and Angela into danger of losing their lives-and their immortal souls.

My Review:
Such a great book! I'm really glad that I started with the beginning, even if this book doesn't have old characters-Nikki and Brent are mentioned as having 3 kids as why they aren't joining this group. So yeah, that was really great!

This book, it kinda went back to where the first book in the first series where the gifts were a little undefined, and where they didn't really see ghosts, they just had gifts that were paranormal in nature, a big vague.

I really enjoyed reading these characters! They worked as a team, and there were good relationships between them, and I can't wait to read more about them and as the other team members find romance while solving mysteries!

Really fantastic mystery! There were a lot of balls in the air, the senator's people and the senator's enemies, between all of that, there was a lot of conflict and intrigue! Though I did feel sorry for some people, there were some really bad guys!

Yeah, I enjoyed this book a lot, and I can't wait to read more of this series!

Week 44 Review: The Murder of an Angel

From Goodreads:
In the dramatic conclusion of the bestselling Confessions series, Tandy Angel's next murder case could be her own!

Tandy Angel is losing her mind—or so she thinks. Even as she's forced to fight for the family company, she's imagining new dangers in every shadow. And as her detective prowess is called into question and her paranoia builds, she has to face the very real possibility that the stalker she's convinced will take her life could be all in her head—or the very real danger that finally brings her down.

My Review:
This book was really fantastic! A really great ending to the series, though I do have a few complaints here and there! I've enjoyed this series, and while it's sad to say goodbye, well, for me, this book was one of the weakest instalments in the series, like it's been going down since the 2nd book. Which sucks, and is my personal opinion, but oh, well, still a really great series and a great book!

Sometimes things went over the top. It was really strange to read when she went back to school and how she and her ex-best friend interacted, and the words and everything going on, it was just a little bit too dramatic, and it didn't feel really real!

This book, Tandy was the potential murder victim. And she almost got killed many times. And I enjoyed the mystery there, it was the best thing about the book for me. There was that one point that brought me back to the earlier books when Tandy figures things out, but doesn't tell us, she lets things play out!

It kinda really sucks that this book is the end of the series! That ending was just a little bit abrupt, without a lot of details. Like hey, it's the end, so we're going to get the happy ending but it doesn't matter we just get it, it just isn't told how they did. There were just a few details that we got that showed that we didn't get all that I wanted-especially with her sister!

Yeah, it was a really good book, but for me, it just had a lot of negatives that I wanted to talk about. I still enjoyed it!

Week 44 Review: The Clockwork Scarab

From Goodreads:
Evaline Stoker and Mina Holmes never meant to get into the family business. But when you're the sister of Bram and the niece of Sherlock, vampire hunting and mystery solving are in your blood. And when two society girls go missing, there's no one more qualified to investigate.

Now fierce Evaline and logical Mina must resolve their rivalry, navigate the advances of not just one but three mysterious gentlemen, and solve murder with only one clue: a strange Egyptian scarab. The stakes are high. If Stoker and Holmes don't unravel why the belles of London society are in such danger, they'll become the next victims.

My first review of The Clockwork Scarab
My Review:
Oh, man, it was just so freaking great to be able to reread this book! Just so enjoyable, just so good, and it was great to go on this journey again with these characters! Just the freaking best thing ever! And yeah that I get to keep on reading this series!

I had kinda forgotten what had gone on in this book, the little things. So yeah, reading it again brought everything back for me, and at the same time, was like a brand new adventure, and that was just perfect! I loved that feeling of deja vu, that I was thinking that there had to be a connection between Mina Holmes, and the Mina in Dracula, and then it happened again!

Again the whole idea of having the niece of an author's creation, and the sister of an author in one world, yeah, that's pretty darned awesome! Just so unique and that's just what I love so much! And with everything else that was going on, yeah, it just came together so well!

Loved that mystery, all the clues, and the maybes, mixed in with the romance, all those possibilities, as well as the ingenuity of the author in the above, just made for such an entertaining book that yeah, I just loved!

Really enjoyed this book, so, so much! And yeah, can't wait to read more of this series!

Week 43 Reviews: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Hollow City, Library of Souls

From Goodreads:
A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

From Goodreads:
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled readers and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it "an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters."

This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine's island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other unexpected surprises.

Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly mesmerizing) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight readers of all ages.

From Goodreads:

The adventures that began with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and continued with Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls.

As the story opens, sixteen-year-old Jacob discovers a powerful new ability, and soon he's diving through history to rescue his peculiar companions from a heavily guarded fortress. Accompanying Jacob on his journey are Emma Bloom, a girl with fire at her fingertips, and Addison MacHenry, a dog with a nose for sniffing out lost children.

They'll travel from modern-day London to the labyrinthine alleys of Devil's Acre, the most wretched slum in all of Victorian England. It's a place where the fate of peculiar children everywhere will be decided once and for all.

Like its predecessors, Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography.

My first review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
My Review:
These books, this series! Oh, man, just so good and so enjoyable! Loved them so much, they were just so good, and I'm just so glad that I read them, and all together, because the little bits were just so great!

Being in this world again was just spectacular! And on top of that, to have more of this world, and just learn more? That was just fantastic, I just loved it so much! The first book took place mostly on the island, isolated, and then the next two books, well, they didn't!

The photographs are a pretty integral thing to the series. And it's funny, because these books had to be shaped from them, but that was just a starting place, they could go in so many directions, and that was pretty awesome!

One thing that I wish had been addressed just a bit more, was the point that was brought up in Hollow City, with the Peculiar Sam, who's on the cover. A point from which I extrapolated into a theory about the attitudes in peculiars, that is probably the small seed to the wights and hollows doing what they did!

Totally loved that ending! After all the twists and turns, of ups and downs, that ending was just great! Loved that happy ending, and of hope for the future, and most people being happy (though it sucked that not everyone made it to the end!)

Such a fantastic series, so enjoyable!
