Week 41 Reviews: The House of the Stone, The White Rose

From Goodreads:
In The Jewel, we followed Violet in her servitude under the Duchess of the Lake. Now we'll hear Raven's story and her time as a surrogate for the Countess of the Stone in this digital novella from Amy Ewing.

When Raven is bought at the Auction, she knows immediately that things will not go well. And when she arrives at the Countess's palace, Raven quickly discovers that the Countess is much less interested in having a baby than experimenting with Raven's mind and body. Raven can only hope for an escape…and to see Violet again, all the while reminding herself that she is Raven Stirling, and she does matter.

From Goodreads:
Violet is on the run. After the Duchess of the Lake catches Violet with Ash, the hired companion at the Palace of the Lake, Violet has no choice but to escape the Jewel or face certain death. So along with Ash and her best friend, Raven, Violet runs away from her unbearable life of servitude.

But no one said leaving the Jewel would be easy. As they make their way through the circles of the Lone City, Regimentals track their every move, and the trio barely manages to make it out unscathed and into the safe haven they were promised—a mysterious house in the Farm.

But there's a rebellion brewing, and Violet has found herself in the middle of it. Alongside a new ally, Violet discovers her Auguries are much more powerful than she ever imagined. But is she strong enough to rise up against the Jewel and everything she has ever known?

The White Rose is a raw, captivating sequel to The Jewel that fans won't be able to put down until the final shocking moments.

My Review:
Reading these books was so awesome! Stone was hard to read because of what Raven went through, and Rose, well, so awesome, because they were on the move, and rebelling just by escaping! And another cliffhanger ending! Gah! Can't wait for the last book!

Having the story of Raven in the beginning, again, hard to read! Because 1) we knew it was going to get worse, and b) there was nothing we could do about it! We just knew that Violet had given her the escape serum, and just had to hope that it worked out OK!

Yeah, The White Rose picked up very quickly after the ending of The Jewel, which is really great, seeing that cliffhanger ending with Garnet! So fantastic to read it, and then have all these things happening, there was a lot more action or tension in this book that made it so much better than The Jewel!

So much happened in The White Rose, from learning more about her powers, and the truth about them, and about the Island's history. Oh, and the rebellion that's brewing! And the plan that is hatched! And just so much more! Such a fantastic book! And then that evil, cliffhanger ending! I need more!

Yeah, such a really fantastic series, and I can't wait to see how it's going to end!
