Week 50 Review: Icebreaker

From Goodreads:
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A TikTok sensation! Sparks fly when a competitive figure skater and hockey team captain are forced to share a rink.

Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and lands a place on their competitive figure skating team.

Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins.

Nate's focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice. Which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they are forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who clearly can't stand him.

But when Anastasia's skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot.

Sparks fly, but Anastasia isn't worried…because she could never like a hockey player, right?

My Review:
I had such a fun time reading this book! I heard great things, and when I had a chance to read it, I took it, and I'm glad I did, this was so enjoyable! Getting to know these two and watch their romance was just so entertaining!

The fact that their relationship starts off with animosity, because his team has to share her rink, and he keeps secret why his was messed with since it was personal information, yeah, that starts them on a rough note. I loved seeing as things developed, because he was a good guy, and they had amazing chemistry.

I do find that this synopsis is a bit spoiler-y, the whole thing with her skating partner doesn't happen until around the halfway point. For me that's not too much since I do read books quickly, and half the time it's been a while since I've recent read the synopsis, but that's not how everybody's reading experiences would go.

One thing that I really loved was that there was no third act break up. There were fights, and hurt feelings, but they took time, and then they communicated, and I loved that. That her skating partner was pretty awful made things complicated, but I loved how things resolved there!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to continue on with the series!
