Week 29 Reviews: The Pale Dreamer, The Bone Season

From Goodreads:
In the perilous heart of Scion London, a dangerous and valuable poltergeist is on the loose – and it must be caught before chaos erupts on the streets of the capital. Here, the clairvoyant underworld plays by its own rules, and rival gangs will stop at nothing to win such a magnificent prize.

Sixteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working for Jaxon Hall, the most notorious mime-lord in the city. He thinks she is hiding a powerful gift, but it refuses to surface. Maybe this is the opportunity she needs to secure her position in his gang, the Seven Seals…

From Goodreads:
It is the year 2059. Several major world cities are under the control of a security force called Scion. Paige Mahoney works in the criminal underworld of Scion London, part of a secret cell known as the Seven Seals. The work she does is unusual: scouting for information by breaking into others' minds. Paige is a dreamwalker, a rare kind of clairvoyant, and in this world, the voyants commit treason simply by breathing.

But when Paige is captured and arrested, she encounters a power more sinister even than Scion. The voyant prison is a separate city-Oxford, erased from the map two centuries ago and now controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. These creatures, the Rephaim, value the voyants highly-as soldiers in their army.

Paige is assigned to a Rephaite keeper, Warden, who will be in charge of her care and training. He is her master. Her natural enemy. But if she wants to regain her freedom, Paige will have to learn something of his mind and his own mysterious motives.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading both of these so much! The world was really interesting, and I enjoyed watching Paige and her adventures! The Pale Dreamer was a great introduction into the world, but The Bone Season went to unexpected places, really quickly! So excited to see where this series goes from here!

The Pale Dreamer gave us a look into Paige's life, as she finds her place in the gang. It was a fairly short read, but I loved the set up of the characters and the world, which followed smoothly into The Bon Season. I really enjoyed how Paige worked things out! Such a great read!

And then oh, man, The Bone Season! That book took me places. I had such a great time, raging against eh unfairness of the world for clairvoyants. As we learned about this world, about the secrets being kept, I just raged, because it was just so unfair!

There's so many places that this series can go from here. It ends on a bittersweet moment, plus there are quite a few threats that Paige and the gang are facing-and for Paige, maybe some of the gang, as well-and I can't wait to see it play out in the sequels!

These were such great reads, and I can't wait to continue the series!
