Week 51 Reviews: Nyxia Unleashed, Nyxia Uprising

From Goodreads:
File this book under A for Amazing. -Jay Kristoff, New York Times bestselling author

Discover book two in the sci-fi space trilogy that Bustle described as The 100 meets Illuminae and Marie Lu called, a high-octane thriller.

Emmett Atwater thought Babel's game sounded easy. Get points. Get paid. Go home. But it didn't take long for him to learn that Babel's competition was full of broken promises, none darker or more damaging than the last one.

Now Emmett and the rest of the Genesis spaceship survivors must rally and forge their own path through a new world. Their mission from Babel is simple: extract nyxia, the most valuable material in the universe, and play nice with the indigenous Adamite population.

But Emmett and the others quickly realize they are caught between two powerful forces-Babel and the Adamites-with clashing desires. Will the Genesis team make it out alive before it's too late?

From Goodreads:
In the Nyxia Triad series finale, Emmett and the Genesis team must join forces with a surprising set of allies if they're ever to make it home alive.

The Genesis team may have been brought to Eden as Babel's unsuspecting pawns, but they refuse to be sacrificed in this winner-take-all game. Thanks to their secret alliance with Eden's indigenous population, they know something Babel doesn't.

This world is coming to an end.

But Emmett and the Genesis team lost their secret advantage when their escape route was destroyed, leaving them stranded on the dying planet with their adversary. They must find a way to win one final battle for control of the Genesis ships--or they'll lose Babel's twisted game once and for all. This is their last chance to rise.

My Review:
Man, these were really fantastic reads! On one hand, it's sucks that I didn't read them sooner after reading book one so I'd remember the details. On the other, it's good, because I don't remember these characters as much-so it didn't hurt as much when some of them died.

Nyxia Unleashed was a really fantastic read, where they've landed on Eden and are working on mining the nyxia. But things are complicated between Isadora, the politics of the Imago (which is their name instead of what Babel called them, the Adamites.) Plus, with each book, we got more and more perspectives, which I really enjoyed!

The the thing I have about these books...is that the plan was to go do each site, and then come to the capital. But the hidden reason the Genesis team was brought in was to be ambassadors because this planet is getting destroyed. Which happens less then 2 weeks later. If plans hadn't been changed, they wouldn't have made it out. So I'm wondering, did they orchestrated the events that caused the change of plans, and I missed it, or was it not mentioned? I'm so confused!

Oh, but that ending! That was pretty intense! These books don't shy away from being brutal, and they have to be smart and resourceful to survive, and not everyone makes it through. Plus that final chapter, and the hope there, that was really great!

These were really fantastic reads, and I can't wait to read more by Scott Reintgen!
