Week 41 Reviews: John Doe Cold Case, Looks That Kill

From Goodreads:
A shocking discovery just turned a cold case red-hot.
And for one detective, it strikes way too close to home...

The discovery of skeletal remains in a Florida cavern sends cold case detective Eve Jareau on a collision course with her past. Concealing the truth from her boss, police chief Nash Bowden, becomes impossible when the spark between them reignites. And now a killer hell-bent on keeping decades-old family secrets hidden forever is lying in wait…to bury Eve and Nash alive.

From Goodreads:
She'll uncover the truth of her childhood
even if it gets her killed

Private investigator Natalie Bolt has secrets—and not just about the attempted murder she witnessed. But revealing her true identity to prosecutor Max Winter could cost her the information he has that she desperately needs. Max has no idea their investigation into a cold case kidnapping victim will lead to Natalie herself. Or that the criminals are still targeting the woman he's falling for…

My Review:
I had such a great time reading these books! I'm so glad that I read them back to back, because I don't remember the most about the first book, which isn't great since they're set in the same place with most of the same characters. But I managed.

John Doe Cold Case, I was really interested in, because it stars Nash, ex-husband of the villain of the first book. So that was complicated especially given that these are mystery romances, and he was going to get together with Eve. But I really enjoyed watching them work this cold case, even when it turns out who the victim is.

Looks that Kill, yeah, it was another really fantastic read, the idea that she was Maya, the one that who went missing and is the centre of everything that had happened since, really great! Plus the proving the suspicions raised in the 2nd book, like the grandmother financing the kidnapping, was so entertaining!

I do wish we could've had a bit more time with the ending. We didn't really get to see her and Thea reuniting, just that they did, and I wish we could've seen it because that's a big moment, they were twins who haven't seen each other in years because one of them was kidnapped. Alas, but otherwise I enjoyed both of these books!

Loved reading these books, and I can't wait to read more by Amanda Stevens!
