Week 48 Review: Murtagh

From Goodreads:
MURTAGH transports readers into an electrifying adventure, with danger and intrigue around every corner. The world is no longer safe for the Dragon Rider Murtagh and his dragon, Thorn. An evil king has been toppled, and they are left to face the consequences of the reluctant role they played in his reign of terror. Now they are hated and alone, exiled to the outskirts of society. But when Murtagh discovers something wicked lurking in the shadows of Alagaësia, so begins an epic journey into lands both familiar and untraveled, where he and Thorn must use every weapon in their arsenal, from brains to brawn, to find and outwit a mysterious witch. A witch who is much more than she seems . . .

My Review:
Reading this book was really great! I am really glad that I reread the series before jumping into this book, because I'd forgotten Murtagh as a character, that he was in book 1. But now I came in fresh with knowledge from the first portion of this series, which made it much easier going into this book!

It was really great to be back in this world. With the short story collection, things have been building to set up another story arc in this world, and this book is the big start of that, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Murtagh has been through a lot. Now that Eragon has gone off with the dragon eggs to establish the Dragon Riders, Murtagh doesn't have a lot of allies, and given what he did when he was under the thumb of the king, people don't view him kindly, no matter what he did to take down said king.

Getting a whole book from Murtagh's perspective was really great, I really enjoyed getting to know him as he knows himself, his bond with Thorn, not to mention as they were going on this quest! I'm really excited to see what's going to happen next!

Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Christopher Paolini!
