As the smallest dragon in the Heartstriker clan, Julius survives by a simple code: keep quiet, don't cause trouble, and stay out of the way of bigger dragons. But this meek behavior doesn't fly in a family of ambitious magical predators, and his mother, Bethesda the Heartstriker, has finally reached the end of her patience.
Now, sealed in human form and banished to the DFZ--a vertical metropolis built on the ruins of Old Detroit--Julius has one month to prove that he can be a ruthless dragon or kiss his true shape goodbye forever. But in a city of modern mages and vengeful spirits where dragons are considered monsters to be exterminated, he's going to need some serious help to survive this test.
He only hopes humans are more trustworthy than dragons...
My Review:
I had a fantastic time reading this book! The synopsis sounded pretty great, and I wanted to get to know Julius as he did his best to survive in an environment that was hostile to him as a dragon. And oh, it was a great read!
I really enjoyed reading Julius story-he's the scrawny runt of the family, from a family known for their strength, well, he's not of much use, which is why his mom sends him off to DFZ to prove himself-or to solve the problem of his existence. Whish is pretty harsh!
This world where magic is back, and there's all sort so of magical creatures, including dragons, was so interesting to read. That there's the DFZ, well, I had to know more about how it all works, while Julius dealing with his attempts to have something that would bring worth to his clan for him to be a part of it.

Oh, but the cast of characters was fantastic! Julius's siblings certainly stood out, with their vibrant personalities that really came off the page. Marci, who was working with Julius and how her mind worked, yeah, it was all so great to read!
Loved reading this book, and I would love to continue on with this series!
