#1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson shows us a future in the Cosmere universe where a perpetual planetary wanderer must decide whether to keep running, or stay and make a difference on a struggling planet.
Years ago he had comrades in arms and a cause to believe in, but now the man who calls himself Nomad knows only a life on the run. Forced to hop from world to world in the Cosmere whenever the relentless Night Brigade gets too close, Nomad lands on a new planet and is instantly caught up in the struggle between a tyrant and the rebels who want only to escape being turned into mindless slaves—all under the constant threat of a sunrise whose heat will melt the very stones. Unable to understand the language, can he navigate the conflict and gain enough power to leap offworld before his mind or body pay the ultimate price?
My Review:
I absolutely loved reading this book! For those that wanted to know more about the secret projects before they were released, I'm pretty sure that we knew who Nomad was before he became Nomad, but it was so great to read this story!
This world in the Cosmere as a whole was really interesting to read, because the sun destroys things, so society is on the constant move to stay ahead of it, living in perpetual dark. It was really interesting to learn how they dealt with that, and the facts about this planet and why it was doing what it was doing!
Nomad is being chased by the Night Brigade, because for a period of time, he held a Dawnshard. It left him with the Torment, and the ability, when he had enough investiture, to skip between planets. So he's seen a lot, but he's also pretty worn down by the experience.
Oh man, that ending! Out of all of them, it's the most open ended, because while the main threat of the story with the Cinder King and learning about Canticle is dealt with, The Night Brigade is not. And Nomad is going to play a part in future of the Cosmere. And I need that, it can't end there!
This was a great end to the secret projects, and I can't wait to read more by Brandon Sanderson!
